Two iconic photographs, taken 60 years apart, reveal a tragic continuity — American bombs have inflicted pain on millions throughout the years, with children often on the frontlines. The photo on the left is a Palestinian child, struggling barefoot to carry her younger sister to a hospital, after she was injured in a car accident in Gaza, amid Israel’s brutal war on the besieged enclave aided by US arms. The photo on the right is of a Japanese boy carrying his dead brother on his back. This picture was taken after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki by the United States in 1945.

Netflix, the movie-streaming site, is facing backlash after removing nearly all the 32 films from the section titled “Palestinian Stories” as of October 13-14. Code Pink, a pro-Palestine social justice organisation, condemned the streaming giant’s removal decision, calling it “a literal erasure of Palestinians’ stories and perspectives from popular culture.” There are allegations that the Palestine-related films were removed, leaving just two available, under pressure from Zionist lobby groups amid Israel’s war on Gaza. “Palestinian Stories” offered a separate section on movies about Palestine, featuring films about family, resilience and life under occupation on its platform. #Netflix #CodePink
