We are thrilled to announce that Maffeis Engineering, a key member of the design competition winning consortium, is now advancing the design of the new Grand Stade Hassan II de Casablanca. Designed by Populous and O+C, this iconic stadium will have a capacity of 115,000 seats, making it one of the largest soccer stadiums in the world. It will be constructed in Casablanca, Morocco, which will co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030 alongside Spain and Portugal. The design, inspired by Moroccan moussem festivals, will feature a large tent-like roof and will fully comply with FIFA standards, ready to host tournament matches.
Maffeis Engineering is responsible for the structural design, geotechnical design in collaboration with Soil Engineering, and the design of the cable net roof that will cover the stadium.
A big thank you to the entire team involved in both the competition and the ongoing design process. Big stadium, big challenge!
