About us
The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (the Commission) was established as a body corporate, by virtue of the Securities Industry Act of 1995. It is an autonomous agency whose primary roles are the protection of investors and fostering the orderly growth and development of the local capital market. This includes the market for stocks, bonds, mutual funds. Our fellow regulator in the financial services sector is the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (CBTT) which regulates the banking and insurance sectors. Both entities report to the Minister of Finance. The value of the securities industry is over TT200 billion and represents 160 percent of our country’s GDP. (2014)

Alyssa Kumar, a Form Four pupil of Bishop Anstey East High School, second right, won the "JAVA Mini Quest" and Sylvester Lutchman, second left, won the "Big Up You Mini Quest" in the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission's inaugural virtual investing competitions. Both JAVA and Big Up You utilised the TTSEC’s interactive stock market simulation gaming platform, InvestorQuest-TT.com (IQTT), and were conducted from July 29 to August 16, and August 19 to September 6, 2024. The JAVA competition targeted nationals 13-19 years and attracted 138 players while Big Up You, aimed at adults 20 and over, saw participation from 388 players, for a combined total of 525 participants. Kumar and Lutchman received their prizes from TTSEC Chief Executive Officer, Kester Guy, and Manager Corporate Communication and Education, Ellen Lewis.

Here are some highlights from the Prizegiving Ceremony of our ‘JAVA’ & ‘Big Up You’ Mini-Quest Competitions during July to September, 2024. The winners in each category are as follows: JAVA Mini-Quest • 1st: Alyssa Kumar - Form 4 pupil of Bishop Anstey East High School won a Samsung tablet and $2,500 to invest. • 2nd: Samantha Beharry - Upper 6 pupil of San Fernando Central Secondary won a Samsung tablet and $2,000 to invest. • 3rd: Tenisha Ochoa - Form 5 pupil of Cowen Hamilton Secondary School won a Samsung tablet and $1,500 to invest. 'Big Up You' Mini-Quest • 1st: Sylvester Lutchman won $5,000.00 to invest. • 2nd: Shantee Lalla won $3,000.00 to invest. • 3rd: Alejandro Andalcio won $2,000.00 to invest. The TTSEC would like to thank all 525 participants of our IQTT Mini-Quest Competitions.
