Emmys 2024: The 15 Biggest Snubs
Happy Emmys Day! Well, “happy” for some people.
Nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced earlier today by Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and while we’re thrilled for many (if not most) of the shows and stars who heard their names read aloud during the live broadcast — including some of the surprising and well-deserved first-time nominees — we can’t help but lament a few that we really expected to hear… but didn’t.
Nothing for The Curse, nor for leading lady Emma Stone? And while we’re thrilled about Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey receiving individual nods, where was the love for Fellow Travelers as a whole? And don’t even get us started on Fargo‘s Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Look, we get it — with more high-quality shows on broadcast, cable and streaming than ever before, it’s impossible to honor everyone. In a “fair” world, the categories would be expanded to include twice as many nominees. But life isn’t fair, and neither are the Emmys.
This year’s Emmys ceremony will be broadcast live by ABC on Sunday, Sept. 15 from Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater. Read on for a breakdown of the stars and shows (arranged alphabetically) that we feel deserved to be included among the just-announced nominees, then drop a comment with your own picks. Who were you hoping to see honored with a nod?

Kind of surprised to see Kate Winslet (The Regime) and Julianne Moore (Mary & George) miss out on nominations … but on the whole a VERY solid list of nominees this year.
I can’t believe Jessica Lange was left off the list. She was amazing and I really enjoyed the entire movie.
Devery Jacobs, Reservation Dogs. Riley Keough Under the Bridge (very glad for Lily Gladstone though). I would say The Righteous Gemstone but I gave up on it ever getting nominated.
I’m not sure that TRG was eligible … the last season ended like a year ago, didn’t it?
The beginning of eligibility is June 1, 2023, so Season 3 of TRG was definitely eligible. (It ran June-July 2023)
some of us still enjoy network shows and according to this list, Abbot elementary is the only one that qualified???
Been like that for years now. 1-2 token network shows get in, but mostly the Emmys moved on, first to cable networks, and now to the streamers. Remember, before streaming, it was all about shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, etc.
I am annoyed that excellent actors from broadcast network TV constantly get ignored. The Emmys shouldn’t even air on ABC at this point. Where is Ramon Rodriguez from Will Trent or Freddie Highmore from The Good Doctor?
Young Sheldon had one of the most poignant hour long series finale in a long time. Yet Annie Potts is snubbed. And Ghosts is totally disregarded.
There are a couple network shows nominated, but in the technical categories
So Help Me Todd had at least 3 episodes that were Emmy worthy. The Tooth is out there, Faux Bituary, and Dial Margaret for Murder.

I don’t think Abby Elliott was really snubbed, she’ll get a nomination next year for her work in Season 3, which was far more interesting than what they gave her to do in the second season. (Though still not funny!)
This -was- for season 3. It aired its episodes all in May which was still eligible for this year’s Emmys (unlike Bridgerton, which aired some but not all and is not eligible until next year).

Several surprise actor/actress/series not on the Emmy list, especially Jessica Lange, Kate Winslet, Emma Stone and Jennifer Jason Leigh. I’m sure some of them, maybe all of them, pissed off the wrong people.
While I’m glad that The Morning Show and The Crown got a lot of love I’m kinda sad that The Good Doctor is going out without any love at all. They really need to come up with individual Emmy awards for network shows. Freddie Highmore deserved a nomination at the very least.

Even the list of subscribers snubs network TV shows. The lead actor from Will Trent and the actors from Young Sheldon deserved some love
Ghosts or any of its actors. And Ella Purnell for Fallout although I was glad to see Walter Goggins get a node.
Seconding Ella Purcell, that’s the most surprising snub for me.
Some of these aren’t really snubs. “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans” was a mess, so no surprise it didn’t make the cut. Stone, Winslet, Shalhoub, Lewis and others were in stacked categories, so somebody was going to be left out.
My biggest snub is Ramon Rodriguez.

The moves away from niche programs are terrific .
Emmys should be for over the air tv and basic cable only.
Everything else should return to the ACE Awrds or a new awards for premium channels and streaming services.
I absolutely believe that there should be categories for broadcast and streaming. I think too many great broadcast performances are simply dismissed because they, well, are broadcast.
Emmy’s these days are a total waste of mental energy… Lazy voters… And Network shows as usual ignored except for trendy Abbot which I tried to watch but couldn’t.. I will say I am able to watch almost all of these shows but don’t have time… For instance… Shogun was probably great but I had no interest in reading subtitles.. And how JJL was ignored from Fargo…. geesh… Fargo should definitely win limited series … One of the best of the seasons for that show..
Not surprised for the love for Morning Show by these voters… All about their kind…

I watched the series with David Oyelowo he was absolutely wonderful and deserves an Emmy
When will Anthony Starr get the recognition he deserves?
Unfortunately, the Emmys only cover the period from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024 and the current season of the Boys was released after that period.
Otherwise, I agree 100% that Starr’s performance in season 4 has been pretty amazing.
I also think the Boys is probably too over the edge for a lot of the people who vote in the Emmys.
That’s a fair assessment about the show. Genre shows rarely get any kudos by the Emmys.
Homelander is one of the best villians ever, and that’s because of his performance.
Night Country got a nom over Fellow Travelers?
I agree about Network shows missing out. Great shows like Blue Bloods, Law & Order Organized Crime & Law & Order SVU are not nominated.
Jennifer Jason Leigh is amazing and was a scene stealer in Fargo. I’m thinking Abby Elliott will get recognition for Season 3. She was great in Fishes.
Oliver Platt is fantastic but The Bear is not his strongest.
Will Trent, Ramon Rodriguez and Erika Christensen deserve the love.
Ghosts – Best Comedy
Brandon Scott Jones or Rebecca Wisocky from Ghosts – Supporting Actor and Actress respectively
Utkarsh Ambudkar – Best Actor
Also, I think Abby Elliot’s best work on “The Bear” was not eligible; I expect we’ll see her next year. And while I love the show and think the entire cast is amazing … IT’S NOT A COMEDY!!

Same worn out shows being nominated AGAIN. Same actors AGAIN. *YAWN* Also, why is the Bear considered a comedy? None of them deserve to win…
I can’t agree with Elizabeth Moss. She’s normally a fine actress and she does a great job on Handmaid’s Tale. But her work on the Veil was average at best. The fake British accent was really bad, and I was hoping it would be written into the plot that she was actually an American deliberately faking the accent (it wasn’t). Also she spent much of the time, especially in the early episodes, with this weird, off-putting grin that seemed totally out of sync with what was going on around her. I’m not sayhing it was a bad performance – I just don’t think it was Emmy-worthy.
I agree. I thought The Veil was so boring. It really seemed to be relying on Moss being an interesting character to watch, but she wasn’t. So we got a bunch of close-ups of her…thinking?…but it just wasn’t dynamic.
I kept waiting for something to happen like you said – maybe she’s secretly someone else, maybe she has direct ties to this case. But no. She had a baby with an older man and her dad was a bad guy, so I guess we should care about her? It was all pretty straightforward, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But it was built up like there was going to be something more.
