Its Creative Team Is Aces
Shrinking was developed by three creatives who not only have staying power, but also boast an impressive collective resumé. Bill Lawrence serves as one of Lasso‘s co-creators (alongside star Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly), while Brett Goldstein (who co-stars with Sudeikis) has written over a dozen of its episodes. But that, of course, only scratches the surface of Lawrence’s past work, which includes co-creating Spin City, Cougar Town and Clone High, in addition to developing Scrubs.
Segel’s no slouch either. In addition to his robust list of acting credits, he’s written films (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Five-Year Engagement), resurrected The Muppets and developed a series of his own with the AMC drama Dispatches From Elsewhere. With all three head honchos known for poignant, yet punchy comedy, rest assured that this new series is in very capable hands.
As a Ted Lasso fan, I have really enjoyed having another show with a similar tone.
Harrison Ford is so good in this show. It is completely different character than I have seem him play before and it is delightful. You saw hints of him being a charming grump in Sabrina, but here his conversations with Alice, the singalongs in the car with Gabby, and his interactions with Brian (his interruption of Brian’s proposal made me laugh so hard)
I also love Ted McGinley’s Derek. He has the fewest but the best lines of each show. He makes the most his screen time.
I have to say that the Liz/Gaby friendship is one of the best parts of this show
Season 1 of Ted Lasso was great, season 2 not so much. Will I like the show if I did not like the second season?
Astonishingly goods writing and acting. Segal’s no slouch … genius! This is as good as the first season of The Morning Show! Smart writing and scting!
This is my current favorite show right now hands down. The cast and characters are phenomenal from top to bottom (Ford is particularly great), and the writing is perfection.
It strikes that Lasso balance of being funny, real, and hopeful.
A pure delight!!!
This is a fabulous show. Full of heart and wit. I keep on wanting more every week. Easily my favorite show in a long while.
I love “Shrinking” for all the reasons in your article. As also a lover of “Ted Lasso,” this series met all the needs of someone waiting for Season 3 of “Ted.” I hope “Shrinking” continues as well.
LOVE. THIS. SHOW!!!!!
#6 – Michael Urie!!! Love having him on my screen!
