On the final day of #UbuntuSummit, we reflected on three incredible days filled with inspiring discussions and groundbreaking insights into open-source innovation. From welcoming passionate developers to showcasing community-driven projects, the summit has been a testament to the strength and creativity of the open-source community. We explored Ubuntu’s growing support for RISC-V devices, moving from development boards to consumer laptops. We saw how DreamWorks Animation efficiently manages millions of rendering jobs across thousands of servers, and how #OpenSource tools like Grafana and PostgreSQL are crucial for monitoring and optimizing their large-scale workload processing. Other highlights in the day included talks on building ultra-light, secure Docker images, the state of arm64 with mainstream Ubuntu laptops, and updates on AMD GPU acceleration for AI and HPC. We also had sessions on how industrial open-source IoT tech is powering smart infrastructure, from transport to cloud-free data management, and saw how the global impact of open tech is driving innovation across Africa, from education to startups. Gaming also took the stage, with sessions on Linux gaming compatibility, and how new Linux tools are improving the gaming experience. We also spotlighted digital signage, exploring its transformation into a versatile platform. With heartfelt applause, we wrapped up the summit, and had one last social gathering in the historic Grote Kerk Den Haag, celebrating our shared journey together. 🌍 What an enriching experience at #UbuntuSummit 2024 in The Hague, Netherlands! It was a pleasure to meet the #OpenSource community again, share knowledge and learn together. 💡 A highlight was watching our talented Malaga native, Juanmi Taboada, show the world how to build an underwater ROV. His passion and creativity inspire all of us who share a constructive and collaborative spirit. 🤗 We take home not only project ideas and fascinating talks but also great memories of bike rides in cities, beaches and parks, as well as unforgettable moments together with like Jürgen Gmach, André Niemann, Akarshan Kapoor, Youngbin Han, Fabien Vauchelles, Teodora Mihoc, Thibaut Rouffineau, Luis Cañas-Díaz, Rakhi Sharma,... ✨ We celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ubuntu (family photo 📸) and remember the words of CEO Mark Shuttleworth again on this 20th anniversary was truly inspiring: "Our contribution to open source is amplification of open source." 🧡 Thanks to the Canonical team, a wonderful family, for the warm welcome and the organization of this memorable event.
