"I really like just how much everyone is so welcoming here. Right from the start, HR, my manager, and my teammates all made it super easy for me to settle in and start building my confidence. Our motivated team rolled up our sleeves during the marketplace cleanup which led the friendly residents of Bad Urach to ask us who we are and what were we doing... When we replied that we are Nova Germany and we are cleaning up the environment, their curiosity turned into cheers, making our day even brighter. “My passion for physics started with my parents. My mother was an educator who inspired me to educate young minds and my father was a physics professor. Growing up in a household that valued education and discovery set me on my path. I’ve been with Nova for 10 years now, working in the Advanced Technology Group, but before that, I spent quite a few years in academia. A few months ago, my brother, a professor and Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department, at Texas A&M University, invited me for a visit where I learned about an incredible program: Senior Capstone. In this project, students work together to define solutions to real-world industry problems and then implement them. I was so impressed by the program that I immediately volunteered to become a mentor. Back at the office, I pitched the idea to Nova’s HR and management, and they were very supportive. They even decided to sponsor the team I’m mentoring. As a mentor, I guide five engineering students through this challenging project. My role involves defining the problem they need to solve and supporting them through every stage. The experience is incredibly fulfilling- it’s so rewarding to see the students grow and develop their knowledge and skills. I guess my enthusiasm is contagious because two of my colleagues, Gary Lopez, Rudy Garcia and Maggie Sung, assisted by Miguel Gonzalez Pedraza, have also decided to become mentors. Our main goal in our recent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activity at Nova China was to demonstrate how endorsing education, especially tech education from a young age, is a foundation for success in life. Nova Employees, along with 6 Nova children welcomed 15 children and their parents from underprivileged families to our Shanghai office. We started with an inspiring talk with Xinrui Lui, our Sr. Application Engineer, who shared her career journey and professional choices. We then moved on to a hands-on light experiment led by a professional STEM teacher and finished with a delightful lunch during which we had heart-to-heart conversations. This was the first event for both the kids and our employees, and it sparked excitement and curiosity for future meet-ups. The event was also featured on the “Pu Jiang Commonweal” page on WeChat, and the great response amplified the importance of learning and giving equal opportunity to everyone. #WeAreNova #NovaChina #ESG #STEM

"If we use filmmaking as a metaphor for our working process - Keren was the one who brought the soundtrack for the project we recently presented, while I was in charge of technicolor”, explains Nir Kampel, algorithm scientist technology lead, about the project he and Keren Kahil, Application Scientist, presented at the Dimensional Metrology Division Innovation Conference. "We were working simultaneously on separate projects, doing very different things but with similar goals”, he adds. "Like many other innovative solutions developed in different places simultaneously, this one is roughly based on the same principle", says Keren. "We were encouraged to present our projects together, recognizing that they are similar yet also very different. We wanted to present our projects as a dialogue, and not just two separate presentations and that set our presentation apart in the innovation conference". "In both of our projects, even before we turned them into one shared presentation, we kept our minds and ears open, we allotted time to try new things and think outside the box", Keren concludes. "The feeling after winning the Innovation competition in Israel, was incredible. We were invited to present our idea at the “Nova Next” competition in Germany. We had a good feeling, knowing we had developed a great idea and had a strong presentation. We believe that the tight collaboration between algo and application was critical for the success of the project and the presentation. When we presented for the second time, at Nova Next, we didn’t feel the pressure of the competition at all - we simply had fun," Keren and Nir conclude. #WeAreNova #Innovation

“For me, the annual Nova Innovation Conference is the best platform to present ideas that others can take, apply, and use for their innovative projects. The true value of the conference is that it gives participants a chance to connect or at least know whom to contact regarding their upcoming innovative developments. I truly enjoyed presenting my idea, in the Chemical Metrology Division (CMD) Innovation competition, mainly because I believe others could find it useful. Often, when you have new ideas and you are working on something, it can feel like you are on an island: some people know what you are doing, but not everyone. And those who need what you are currently working on might never find it. The feedback I received as a CMD Innovation Competition winner was incredible! I did not expect such appreciation, congratulations, or the number of people showing interest and asking questions, both from the CMD team and as well as colleagues from other product divisions and teams. The fact my colleague Simon also won the Nova Next competition that happened later in the day, made the experience that much better! Winning the competition indeed felt incredible, but it did not change my goals or how I see things. "I have been working at Nova since 2017, so I’ve had the chance to participate in quite a few team-building activities, but the recent one with the Finance team at the Tel Aviv Art Museum was particularly creative and artistic. We were divided into random groups, and it was a great way to get to know people I don’t usually work closely with on a deeper level. Our mission was to 'save the museum' by solving a mystery and decoding clues hidden throughout the museum. It was a refreshing experience – the first time I looked at the different exhibits in a way I hadn’t seen before. As a group, we got to work together in a completely new environment, and we laughed a lot along the way. Even though there was a competitive element between the groups, we found ourselves helping and being helped by others, until we finally 'saved the museum.' What surprised me the most was discovering new sides of people I’ve known for years. Some had extensive knowledge of art and history, which was both impressive and very helpful if you wanted to win. I can already feel the impact on our daily interactions, which have become more fluid and smoother now that we know more about each other.
