This new compendium of 10 years of #SautiZaWananchi shows the enormous number of stories that citizens must tell. And more than that, it shows how important it is to pay attention to what citizens are saying and how much we can all benefit from doing so.” - Aidan Eyakuze. Twaweza East Africa reposted this
I'm happy to share that I've just published my first article with one of the leading digital news platforms in the country. This piece was inspired by a recent Gen Z protest in Kenya, prompting me to explore what fuels the sense of agency among Gen Z across the globe. Every day, we hear stories of Gen Z standing up for themselves in the workplace, often leaving Millennials and older generations in awe. Social media is full of examples of how Gen Z challenges the status quo and pushes boundaries to achieve what once took years. I invite you to read more on this fascinating topic in my latest article https://lnkd.in/dA6J4fma

Last week, we launched new Sauti za Wananachi data on Ugandan citizens' understanding and experience of climate change. Here are some key findings: 1. Most citizens report that climate change is a worrying problem that is worsening. 2. 7 out of 10 Ugandans see deforestation as the leading cause of climate change. 3. Citizens’ experience of a changing climate is mixed, though many report that conditions are increasingly difficult. 4. 7 out of 10 citizens report declining agricultural yields. 5. Most citizens report that living has become harder over the past 5-10 years. 6. 8 out of 10 Ugandans report experiencing the effects of climate change at the household and community level. 7. Citizens propose a range of actions to address the climate crisis, with tree planting being the most common. #ClimateActionNow Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/drAy5Jiw

We must demand transparency, stay informed, and hold leaders accountable! 💪 Watch this video to learn more about access to information and why it matters. #OpenGov
