  • “If real development is to take place, the people have to be involved.” – Julius Kambarage Nyerere. Last year, we proudly partnered with the Twende Butiama Cycling Club to honor Mwalimu Nyerere’s legacy through this meaningful cycling tour. Our 'why' is rooted in his vision for unity, education, and sustainable development. By supporting this annual event, we aim to empower communities, promote education, and inspire future generations to uphold the values he championed. This morning, we wake up in Butiama, grateful to honor Mwalimu's legacy and celebrate Nyerere Day. 🚴🏾♂️ #TwendeButiama24 #NyerereDay #MwalimuNyerere #LegacyInMotion #Pedal4Purpose

On September 29th, we kicked off the annual Vodacom Twende Butiama Cycling Tour. This year, Vodacom Tanzania Foundation is thrilled to partner with Stanbic Bank Tanzania to honor Mwalimu Nyerere’s vision of empowerment. Celebrating the importance of access to education, environmental stewardship, and good health for all communities through active engagement and support. What does it take to cover 1,846 kilometers in 14 days? For the 98 dedicated cyclists, it’s a journey that spans 12 regions, connecting with communities, championing important causes, and nurturing hope. With each kilometer we conquer, we draw nearer to a brighter, stronger community. Mwalimu believed that true progress starts with the well-being and knowledge of every individual. It’s this philosophy that drives us forward, as empowering communities is essential for accelerating our journey toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This year, we are focused on enhancing learning environments to ensure that everyone, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), have access to the right spaces and tools for their growth. This commitment reflects our dedication to inclusion for all, supporting every individual in their pursuit of knowledge and echoing Mwalimu’s ideals for a just and equitable society. Four days from reaching Butiama, the spirit of the ride remains strong. Twende Butiama is more than a ride, it’s a movement. It’s about uplifting our communities through education, health, and environmental action. #TwendeButiama24 #PamojaTunaweza #Pedal4Purpose #Sustainability #EducationForAll #HealthForAll #NyerereLegacy

  • When we equip teachers with the right resources, we create education ecosystems that work for everyone. This #WorldTeachersDay, we shine a light on the incredible role teachers play in transforming education. The journey goes on 🚴🏾♀️ . We’ve covered 744 kilometers. Day 5 was rest day in Singida. At Manguanjuki Primary School, we were warmly welcomed, handed over 160 desks, and planted 1,000 trees. Last Sunday, we flagged off the Vodacom Twende Butiama Cycling Tour. As the lead partner, we proudly support this 1,846-kilometer ride that honors Mwalimu Nyerere, Tanzania's founding father. Twende Butiama is more than a ride—it’s a movement for education, health, and sustainability. A 14-day trek through 12 regions, empowering communities along the way. The journey continues. #TwendeButiama24 #Pedal4Purpose #EducationForAll #HealthForAll #NyerereLegacy

The Vodacom Group board members had the privilege of visiting Vodacom Tanzania Foundation initiatives during their market visit, witnessing firsthand the positive impacts on local communities. Their first stop was Sinza Palestina Hospital, home to the m-mama beneficiaries and the dedicated champions—including nurses, regional teams, and community drivers—who make the m-mama initiative possible. A life-saving initiative aimed to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths through the 115 toll-free number. The board interacted with mothers who have benefitted from the program and the community ambulance drivers, hearing powerful stories that highlight the impact of technology and partnerships in healthcare. We also had the opportunity to visit Mtakuja Secondary School, where the e-fahamu project is transforming delivery of education and access to resources for both students and teachers. Through free access to ICT labs and the zero-rated e-fahamu learning portal, students are excelling academically and unlocking new opportunities for a brighter future. Stanbic Bank, through the Biashara Incubator, is dedicated to fostering financial literacy and inclusion in our communities. Earlier today at Makulu Primary School, we hosted a Financial Fitness Academy session with aim to empower students with essential financial skills, creating a foundation for sustainable growth and economic empowerment. The students established a Financial Literacy Club, pledging to share their newfound knowledge with peers. At Stanbic Bank, we embrace Mwalimu Nyerere’s vision of eradicating poverty through education. Our students represent the future, and it's essential to equip them for success, fostering a prosperous nation. Together with the Vodacom Foundation Twende Butiama Cycling Tour 2024, we are dedicated to transforming lives, one community at a time, one school at a time. #TwendeButiama #TanzaniaIsOurHomeWeDriveHerGrowth Kai Mollel Annette Nkini Joan Mbise Annette Kanora Vodacom Tanzania Foundation
