🔎 Mining Night Award Inspires Entrepreneurial Transformation 💡 🔦 ✒ From Donut Seller to Tin Mining Mogul: Leminatha Cornel Kabigumila’s Inspiring Rise Leminatha Cornel Kabigumila, a resilient 38-year-old mother of two, has become a beacon for women in the mining industry. Recently awarded the 2023 Best Woman in Mining, Leminatha’s journey is extraordinary: from selling milk and donuts to establishing her own company, Rare Mining East Africa Ltd., with an impressive portfolio of 95 tin mining licenses and one gold license. In her early mining days, she held just four small-scale licenses. Today, fueled by her recognition at the annual Mining Night Awards, Leminatha has significantly expanded her investments. To secure additional licenses, she paid TZS 150 million in government fees, and an additional TZS 120 million to revitalize dormant licenses. Her vision has enabled her to encourage others to clear over TZS 300 million in government debts, marking her as both a business leader and community contributor. Her mining success story began in 2017 in Shinyanga’s Kahama District, later moving to Kyerwa District in Kagera, where she mines and markets tin through the Kyerwa Mineral Market. “The award gave me the strength to move forward,” she says, crediting Tanzania’s supportive mining policies and the invaluable guidance from industry leaders. She has since started NGOs, aiming to foster positive change in her community. Her plans are ambitious: Leminatha envisions exporting to global markets and setting up local factories to produce goods under her brand, LEM-NES International Ltd. "I believe this dream will come true,” she says, motivated to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. As part of the Mining for Brighter Tomorrow (MBT) initiative for 2024/25, the Tanzanian government will support young and female miners by providing licenses, equipment, vehicles, and machinery. This program, through the Ministry of Minerals, empowers those like Leminatha who are building a brighter future in mining and beyond. #TMIC2024 #TanzaniaMiningConference #WomenInMining #MiningNight2023 #ValueAddition

🆕Tanzania Promotes Investment Opportunities in Rukwa's Mining Sector🌍🛂 The Tanzanian government, through the Ministry of Minerals, is actively promoting investment opportunities in the Rukwa region, aiming to boost the local economy through its rich mineral resources. Deputy Minister of Minerals, Dr. Steven Kiruswa, announced during a visit on October 23, 2024, that the region hosts valuable deposits of Mica, Copper, Emerald, Titanium, Gold, Helium, Coal, and Aquamarine, which could attract investors and enhance regional productivity. Dr. Kiruswa emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the country’s mineral resources benefit Tanzanians, as well as contribute to national development. As part of the Vision 2030: Minerals for Wealth and Life initiative, the government aims to increase detailed geological surveys from the current 16% to 50% by 2030, providing both small-scale miners and investors with the data they need to operate efficiently and reduce risks in mining activities. Furthermore, the government, through the National Mining Corporation (STAMICO), is offering modern mining equipment, including drilling machines, to assist small-scale miners. This support is expected to improve productivity and add value to extracted minerals. Rukwa Resident Mining Officer, Engineer Joseph Kumburu, revealed that a preliminary assessment in 13 areas has identified 7,180 hectares of land with significant mineral potential. The region has the capacity to issue 718 small-scale mining licenses, opening new opportunities for local miners. Additionally, 10 new investors have already expressed interest in the region’s mining prospects. Sumbawanga District Commissioner, Nyakia Chirukile, highlighted the potential for mineral investments to transform Rukwa’s economy, which has traditionally relied on agriculture. Increased investment in the mining sector is expected to place the region on Tanzania’s mining production map and contribute significantly to economic growth.
