🚀 $435M Investment Set to Transform Ukraine’s Telecom Infrastructure On October 9th, a landmark $435M investment agreement was signed to modernize and expand Ukraine’s telecom infrastructure. The funding, provided by IFC - International Finance Corporation and the EBRD, with support from the European Commission and the Government of France, aims to empower the newly merged Datagroup-Volia-lifecell group to enhance digital connectivity and significantly strengthen telecom services throughout Ukraine. The signing ceremony, held in Paris, gathered over 50 participants, including representatives from IFC, EBRD, NJJ, Horizon Capital, and the European Commission, alongside officials from the governments of France and Ukraine. The event highlighted the significance of this international collaboration, bringing together key stakeholders to support the development of Ukraine’s telecom infrastructure. Led by NJJ, the telecom investment holding company of renowned entrepreneur Xavier Niel, in partnership with Horizon Capital, the newly formed Datagroup-Volia-lifecell group has quickly become one of Ukraine’s leading telecom providers. Under the leadership of CEO Mykhaylo Shelemba, this collaboration aims to drive innovation, improve telecom offerings, and bolster network resilience at a pivotal time for Ukraine. The acquisition of Volia and lifecell Ukraine by a consortium led by NJJ HOLDING (“NJJ”), the investment firm owned by French tech and telecom visionary Xavier Niel, together with Horizon Capital and CEO Mikhail Shelemba, was completed today. This is a historic transaction, marking the first significant investment by a new market entrant and major strategic investor since the full-fledged invasion, further supporting the growth and modernization of Ukraine’s telecom infrastructure. Datagroup-Volia is Ukraine’s leading fixed telecom and pay TV provider, and Lifecell is the country’s third-largest mobile operator.   The combined platform will provide mobile connectivity to circa 10 million Ukrainians, while the fixed network will cover over 4 million residences nationwide. Future integration will enable the platform to offer a triple-play service, combining mobile, fixed connectivity, and pay-TV.   The next milestone is signing loan documents and disbursing the $435 million joint financing package provided by the @European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the IFC - International Finance Corporation (IFC).
