For the first time in 30 years, Ukraine and Germany have agreed on cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and higher education. 🇺🇦🤝🇩🇪 The agreement was signed by the Minister of Education and Science Of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, and Federal Minister of Education and Research of Germany, Bettina Stark-Watzinger, during a visit by the German delegation to Kyiv. 🔑 Key areas of cooperation include: - Exchange of experts to implement joint scientific and technical programs. - Participating in international projects and organizing joint scientific conferences, seminars, and symposia. - Creation and sharing of research and innovation structures. - Support for higher education programs and the development of partnerships between universities in both countries. 🤩 Additionally, four Ukrainian-German centers of excellence were launched this year in Lviv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv. These centers focus on developing advanced technologies through collaboration between Ukrainian and German scientists, particularly in biology, quantum physics, historical analysis, and more. They receive approximately EUR 10 million in financial support from Germany. This cooperation is an opportunity to develop the technologies that Ukraine needs for its restoration and defense. We thank our partners for investing in the innovative potential of both countries.

🍏 На Одещині відбувся престур за участю першої леді Олени Зеленської, присвячений реформі шкільного харчування. Делегація ознайомилася з різними моделями організації харчування дітей і модернізацією харчоблоків у закладах освіти. У межах престуру делегація відвідала: ✅ дитячий садок із моделлю «базової кухні», у якому їжу готують лише для його вихованців; ✅ школу з «опорною кухнею», у якій готують обіди для понад 900 дітей із трьох навчальних закладів громади; ✅ кулінарний хаб, де навчають майбутніх кухарів і працівників шкільних їдалень за новими стандартами. Також делегація відвідала ліцей, у якому триває ремонт харчоблока за кошти державної субвенції на суму 24,4 млн грн. Цього року уряд виділив 1,5 млрд грн на капітальний ремонт шкільних їдалень по всій Україні. Загалом буде реалізовано 173 проєкти у 23 областях. У листопаді Україна продемонструє успіхи реформи на Європейському саміті шкільного харчування в Києві. На нього прибудуть представники провідних країн світу, щоб обговорити досягнення й ознайомитися з українським досвідом.

16 жовтня представники Міністерства освіти і науки взяли участь у масштабній Ukraine Tech Conference 2024, організованій Diia.City.Union та Європейською бізнес-асоціацією. Конференція зібрала понад 420 учасників, серед яких державні діячі, інвестори, керівники провідних IT-компаній, освітяни та представники стартап-екосистеми. Серед ключових тем — цифровізація держави, технологічні інновації та роль освіти у формуванні технологічного майбутнього. 🎙️ На панелі «Освіта як інтегральна складова технологічного майбутнього» заступник міністра освіти і науки Денис Курбатов наголосив: «Один із ключових пріоритетів МОН — зробити науку прикладною, щоб її результати реалізовувалися в реальному секторі економіки. Це можливо лише через тісну співпрацю з бізнесом». МОН уже змінило механізм формування тематики в низці конкурсів, які тепер формують ключові міністерства, разом із конкретними технічними завданнями для команд дослідників. Також активно працюємо над завершенням розробки нового законопроєкту Science City, який сприятиме створенню дослідницьких інфраструктур для комерціалізації наукових розробок ізалученню міжнародних донорів та партнерів. Це нові можливості для співпраці науки і бізнесу, що є ключем до сталого розвитку України. Модератором цієї панелі став Тарас Кицмей, співзасновник компанії «SoftServe» та віднедавна член комітету, створеного МОН з метою відбору наглядових рад у трьох закладах вищої освіти, які беруть участь в експерименті з розширення автономії. Захід став важливим кроком у налагодженні діалогу між державою і бізнесом для забезпечення технологічного розвитку України в непростих умовах.

We are developing a strategically important partnership with Hungary 🤝🇭🇺 This is a significant step for Ukraine's European integration and developing relations with EU countries. The Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) met with the Hungarian delegation, with the participation of Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Levente Magyar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. 🎯 The main goal is to coordinate political decisions in the field of protecting the rights of national communities and plan joint actions to achieve mutual understanding between the countries in this context. Over more than a year and a half of negotiations, the MoES has achieved the following results: ▪️ Created conditions at the legislative level to allow the use of native languages, particularly Hungarian, during the educational process for national communities; ▪️ Created a roadmap to improve the quality of education in the state language and the languages of national communities by 2027; ▪️ Implemented legislation to ensure the rights and freedoms of national communities. One of the key outcomes of this cooperation is the opening of a bilingual (Ukrainian-Hungarian) school in Budapest for Ukrainian children. This decision was reached through an agreement between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán. The Ministry of Education and Science is committed to ongoing dialogue and joint actions to create comfortable conditions for the Hungarian community, which is an important part of our society 🤝

We continue our series of diplomatic meetings. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted an Estonian delegation led by Kristina Kallas, Minister of Education and Research of Estonia 🤝🇪🇪 Estonia is one of the leaders in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) assistance to Ukraine, with 1.4% directed towards our victory. This figure is higher than in the vast majority of countries. Estonia also provides comprehensive support for education and science. During the meeting, Kristina Kallas and Oksen Lisovyi agreed to further Estonia’s support for reforming Ukraine’s education system at all levels: 👶 🏫 Pre-school and General Secondary Education: introduction of Estonian digital solutions, teaching materials, and training on modern teaching methods for educators. ⚙️ Vocational Education: development of modern, labor market-oriented curricula to enhance dual education. 🧑🎓 Higher Education: establishing effective strategies for the comprehensive transformation of higher education, including pilot projects. Kristina Kallas also highlighted the significant progress in the reform of the New Ukrainian School and higher education in Ukraine, despite the challenges posed by the enemy. She expressed a willingness to share Estonia’s expertise, particularly in the area of EdTech. Strengthening international relations is crucial for attracting investment and accessing high-quality expertise. Through dialogue with our partners, we can advocate for the interests of Ukrainians temporarily residing abroad. During the meeting, the Ministry of Education and Science emphasized the importance of implementing measures to preserve the national identity of Ukrainians living in Estonia. Our partner provides opportunities to learn Ukrainian language in schools and Ukrainian studies component. We sincerely appreciate Estonia's unwavering support and look forward to further developing our cooperation in the fields of education and science!

More than 85% of children in Ukraine now have access to blended or offline education. Face-to-face learning not only fosters social development but also helps students effectively recover from educational setbacks. 🔵 To support this, the government is prioritizing a return to offline education by ensuring safe conditions and collaborating with international partners. Today, we will explain how the EU and Lithuania are involved in establishing underground schools in Ukraine and the significance of this initiative for local communities. ℹ️ Lithuania is currently implementing five projects of EU-LT program to build bomb shelters, four of them set to be completed by the end of 2025 and one anticipated to finish in November 2024. Additionally, Lithuanian partners have secured €3 million in assistance from Ireland to further expand the bomb shelter construction program in Ukraine. We extend our gratitude to our partners for their invaluable support! 🇪🇺🇱🇹 Despite this progress, approximately 440 shelters are still needed in frontline and border areas to ensure that all schools can resume in-person or blended education where feasible. 🇫🇮🇺🇦 Strengthening Cooperation with Finland for the Development of Ukrainian Education Anders Adlercreutz, Minister of Education and Culture of Finland, visited Ukraine for the first time and met with Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, to discuss further actions and partnerships. Key developments during the meeting included: 🔹 Finland's involvement in the development of upper secondary school reform and vocational education; 🔹 Assistance in restoring facilities, building shelters, and purchasing buses and alternative energy sources; 🔹 Support for Ukrainian students and those temporarily residing in Finland. 💪 The MoES team continues to develop the Ukrainian education system and attract support from other countries to accelerate our progress. This is especially important during wartime. Finland serves as a model of our strategic and reliable partnership. We are grateful for the systemic help and support!
