THE MATRIARCHS | On Patriotism
Our ancestors who fought to defend this nation were not taught patriotism in a class. They were inspired by their own feeling to fight and defend this country.
Patriotism is not taught; it is felt and actioned.
The Late Hon. Cecilia Ogwal narrates that this is what happened in Dokolo, the which she refers to as the Placenta of Uganda.

THE MATRIARCHS | Paying Homage to African Excellence
In January 2024, Uganda lost one of her most revered leaders, Hon. Barbara Atim Cecilia Ogwal. She was one of the longest-serving politicians who was the Member of Parliament for Dokolo Women’s Consistency and a Member of the Legislature which drafted and promulgated the 1995 Ugandan Constitution. We had the honor of speaking with her on several topics including Uganda's history, cultural heritage, and the challenges she had to overcome in her time to become the woman she was.
During a 4+ hour conversation, she shared with us one of many reasons she was referred to as "The Iron Lady". We are humbled to have captured this while she was still with us.
To celebrate Women's History Month, we will release her featurette over the coming weeks in loving memory of her.
May her soul continue to Rest in Eternal Peace.
