The practice of child marriage significantly raises the risk of STD’s for young women. Given the lack of education, young girls susceptible to child marriage are often ill-equipped to prevent incoming infections. According to a study conducted by the Journal of Adolescent Health, girls who are married prior to turning 18 tend to have higher rates of contracting HIV compared to their later-married counterparts. Burdening a young woman’s body with diseases she has not been informed of is not only a human rights violation, but an educational blasphemy. Women improve communities as a whole when they are afforded equal opportunities to learn, lead, and achieve as men do. Not only is equality a necessity to achieve justice, but it also honors the special contributions that women bring to the world. We can build a future where every woman is empowered to follow her aspirations, have her voice heard, and make a lasting contribution by dismantling barriers and misconceptions. Equality is a fundamental right that opens the door to a more wealthy and just world, not just a goal. Help to open that door through a donation to the Casey Foundation Africa at https://lnkd.in/ged3-uUE

When we think about teen pregnancy, what comes to mind is a young woman who sacrifices her future and childhood for the sake of her newborn. But what if we told you that a pregnant adolescent who is not burdened with the responsibility of motherhood may face even greater danger? According to 2019 data compiled by WHO, 55% of unintended pregnancies among adolescent girls aged 15-19 end in abortions, which are often unsafe in low- or middle-income countries. This data reflects the importance of educating young girls to prevent uninformed actions and provide safe abortion clinics globally. Forced into adult relationships and responsibilities long before their time, child brides are deprived of the opportunity to set goals for their own future. All of their dreams and aspirations are overshadowed by the burdens of domestic duties and motherhood, trapping them into a cycle of dependence. Child marriage does not only deny young women of their basic rights, but each bride forms a ripple that unleashes waves in gender inequality. In ending this harmful practice, you can empower girls to pursue education, confidence, and independence for themselves. Adolescent pregnancies have a significant detrimental effect on the economy worldwide, prolonging cycles of poverty and limiting young mothers' opportunities to seek higher education and employment. According to estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO), 12 million girls in developing countries between the ages of 15 and 19 give birth to about 21 million babies every year. Due to the fact that these births typically result in inferior educational success and fewer long-term economic opportunities for young mothers, they have a major economic impact. Take a step in helping to end the cycle by supporting the efforts of the Casey Foundation Africa at https://lnkd.in/ged3-uUE Source: Adolescent Pregnancy (World Health Organization)

Women’s possibilities and potential have been restricted by historical and cultural conventions that have frequently placed them in subordinate situations, despite their continuing accomplishments witnessed in society. Acknowledging women's rights is recognizing that all people, regardless of gender, should have equal access to opportunities for employment, education, and personal development. By recognizing the shortcomings of our own narratives when it comes to women’s rights, we can take the first steps towards contributing to equality. Take your first steps by donating to the Casey Foundation Africa at https://lnkd.in/ged3-uUE.

Child marriage began as a means of protection economically, popularized after surges of foreign raids had been observed globally - as stated by the World Atlas. However, under this practice to protect young girls we instead subject them to a life of danger inside of their house rather than outside. These young women deserve the ability to protect their livelihood through employment and education. Join us at the Casey Foundation Africa in our efforts against child marriage. Think back to your youth, books in hand attempting to understand multiplication in math class. Instead, young women globally are faced with the weight of marriage -- denied the opportunity of an education and their own future. According to the Tahirih Justice Center, girls married under the age of 19 are 50% more inclined to drop out of school and 4X less likely to receive a college degree. Millions of young women are robbed of an opportunity to be enriched academically or advance professionally. Child marriage isolates women from their independence and their own potential -- leaving girls to undergo the pitfalls of a life without education. Help give these young women their power again by supporting the Casey Foundation Africa’s efforts at https://lnkd.in/ged3-uUE Source: Child Marriage Poses Serious Risks to Children (Tahirih Justice Center)

Ending child marriage is no small task, but many small actions can create big change. We don’t have to stand by and accept practices that hurt children and communities - instead, here are three actions we can all take: - Report any child marriage happening around you to the proper authorities. - Educate your friends, family and community about why child marriage is harmful. - Promise to never be a part of any event that promotes child marriage. Join the Casey Foundation Africa today in their effort to curb child marriage and teen pregnancy by donating through the link https://lnkd.in/eRisPQna Source: UNICEF Guide; What can I do to help stop child marriage?
