I had the privilege  to work as a PUM volunteer with ChapChap , a fintech company in Uganda. The last two 2 weeks I have been  part of  their journey in the Mobile Money industry towards a leading postion. They recently obtained a Bank licence that will definitely speed them up to get to this leadership. I have been engaging with an energetic, passionate and knowledgeable  team that is working hard, day by day, being a catalyst for small business growth (currently ca  70.000 SME’s in Uganda).  As a result we have agreed on implementing actions that will further strengthen the organization to be ready for strong growth in the near future. For me, it was a great first time experience in Uganda. Hard work combined with good laughs. I will never forget !! Amazing !!! Special and warm thanks to Emmanuel Emodek the founder of ChapChap for inviting me , taking care of me and all the valuable conversations !! PUM Uganda

  • Over the last 2 weeks, we have had the amazing experience with Dick Hoogland from PUM, a Dutch organization that has collaborated with 40,000 businesses over the last 45 years to optimize their entire business ecosystems. In that period, he met all the team members, joined us for our amazing lunch sessions & our monthly townhall! Most importantly, he provided critical insights from his expertise of over 40 years working with companies large & small all over the world that will be transformative for ChapChap. We are also proud of the key findings he shared from his stay including; ↗️ Team energy & vibrancy ↗️ A culture of respect, innovation & transparency ↗️ A company on a mission 🚀... a serious market player (as he put it in his own words) And much more. For the recommendations on what to optimise, we're geared up & ready to tackle them as we push to make our mark in Uganda & Africa. We thank you for taking the time to share your experience, expertise & insights Dick Hoogland. Thanks to PUM & Emmanuel Emodek for fostering this amazing & lasting partnership that enabled this expertise exchange program to be possible.

Last night started with a room full of strangers. But it ended with a room full of shared purpose, new ideas, and the beginnings of lifelong connections. The Product Tour Nairobi Product Community Dinner, hosted by Innovate Africa Fund, brought together some of the brightest minds in product and startup ecosystem in Nairobi to discuss the challenges, triumphs, and opportunities shaping Africa’s innovation landscape over food and drinks. At Innovate Africa Fund, we believe that strong communities build strong ecosystems. Last night proved just that, and this is just the beginning! Next stop: Kigali. If you’re in the city and want to be part of these impactful conversations, RSVP at events@innovateafrica.ventures. • Recap from the Inclusive FinTech Forum | The Founders Peak Emmanuel Emodek gave a stirring session on why he traded comfort for the chaos of entrepreneurship. Here is a summary of his most poignant remarks at the forum; "Why trade comfort for chaos? Chaos pushes you to grow. Chaos forces you to be creative, resourceful, and resilient. Comfort? Comfort is safe. But comfort never challenges you. It never forces you to think bigger. At the end of the day, it’s not about the chaos or the comfort. It’s about the #why. My ‘why’ was to help people, to give back the way my grandmother did, and to create something bigger than myself. And when your why is big enough…The facts simply don’t count." # For most of Emmanuel Emodek's childhood, his grandmother made a habit of bringing back homeless kids every time they went to the market. This continued until she couldn't physically keep up. This also served as an ignition for him to play a bigger role and serve others regardless whether they or he had the resources to do so. These formidable years are woven into ChapChap's #DNA & are at the core of our entire business model to serve thousands of micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) with financial services they can extend to millions of their customers. Since it's founding, ChapChap has lived by this as a guiding light and in spite of the challenges, we are proud of the fact that we've onboarded and licensed over 65,000 #MSMEs since 2018 which served over 7 million last-mile customers in 2024 alone! What next? Well, for that, you just have to stay tuned!
