🌍🇺🇬 Uganda, a future superpower in… agriculture? Sounds bold, but it’s true. With the world hungry for sustainably grown food, our rich soils, constant rain, and perfect climate make Uganda the Garden of Eden. 🌱 In 2024, we became the continent’s top coffee exporter. Now, it’s time to aim higher – because we’re not just growing crops; we’re growing a nation. 💪🏾 Happy Independence Day from all of us at Emata! #HappyIndependenceDay #ProudlyUgandan

Did you know Buhweju District, known mostly for tea, is also rich in both arabica and robusta coffee? We’ve just partnered with Nyakishana Buhweju Coffee Growers Co-op Society to support over 600 local coffee farmers! ☕🌱 Here’s what you need to know: ☕️ Nyakishana supports 600+ farmers in Buhweju District, an emerging coffee region with an abundance of both arabica and robusta. ⛰️ With Emata’s digital tools, Nyakishana will help farmers access financing and inputs, which has been an issue in the past due to the region's rugged, mountainous terrain and poor road network. 💰 Farmers in Buhweju have struggled to scale due to limited resources. Together, we provide the tools and knowledge they need to grow sustainably. 🇺🇬 Most of Nyakishana’s coffee is processed by NAPRO (Nyakishana Agro Producers (U) Ltd), their own coffee processing and marketing arm, aligning with the BUBU (Buy Uganda, Build Uganda) initiative to keep value in the local economy. Huge thanks to Nyakishana for welcoming us – we’re excited to help their farmers thrive! Did you know there’s coffee and cocoa in Mukono? We’ve just launched a pilot with EKiBBO Farming Services Ltd – our first multi-crop partnership supporting both coffee and cocoa farmers! 🍫☕ Here’s why this partnership matters: ✅ Multi-crop focus: Supporting farmers who grow coffee, cocoa, and soon more (Ekibbo is active in vanilla, avocado, jackfruit, oyster nut +++). ✅ Empowering farmers: Ekibbo provides training, certification, and market access, helping farmers improve yields, increase quality, and earn more from their produce. ✅ Unlocking potential: Mukono farmers often rely on a single crop – Ekibbo, now with the help of Emata’s financing, empowers them to diversify and improve crop resilience. Special shoutout to ETG (Beyond Beans Foundation) who made the introduction – and who provides direct access to export markets, ensuring Ekibbo’s farmers get the best prices for their produce! Did you know we make 35,000 decisions every day and have 48 thoughts per minute? 🤯 Yesterday, we enjoyed a session on Optimal Performance with Bo Wullings, a former Dutch national team rower. Now an HR consultant, Bo holds a degree in psychology and a master's in sports performance and business administration. 🧠💪 Bo took us on a journey through: 🧠 How our brains work  🖥️ The real cost of multitasking  😰 Stress: friend or foe? 🍅 The Pomodoro effect 🔪 Razors edge principle The highlight? A simple exercise that showed just how much slower we work when we try to multitask. We all know multitasking is tough, but this really drove the point home about how inefficient it is! Did you know that when you switch from one task to another, it takes you about 20 minutes to be at optimal performance for that task? It puts into perspective how disruptive it is to be trying to finalise 3 things at the same time. We left the session with practical strategies to boost our productivity and work smarter. Ultimately, as Bo told us, if you improve by just 1% every day, the compounding effect over time is what leads to outstanding performance! Thank you, Bo! 🙏 (PS! We 100% recommend him if you want to treat your team to a similar session!)

We were delighted to welcome our friends from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda to our office yesterday! 🇳🇱 Their ongoing support has helped us plant the seeds of change and grow opportunities for smallholder farmers across Uganda. The Dutch Embassy’s passion for agriculture and private sector-led development is a perfect match for our mission at Emata. 🌾 Yesterday, we discussed our current work in value chains like dairy, coffee and oilseeds, as well as our plans to scale up in potatoes and introduce digital payments for cooperatives and agri companies (more on this very soon!). Big shoutout to the Dutch Embassy for sticking with us and helping us make a difference, one loan at a time! CC: Joost Van Ettro Andrew Byaruhanga

Excited to be at the #UGDevSummit this week! Both Davis (CTO & Co-founder) and Kyanda Steven (DevOps) shared their experiences on stage and off discussing topics around Africa, emerging technologies and the question: "Is our ecosystem and tech ready?" Dave shared, “There’s so much potential here [on the continent]! At Emata, we’re proud to have developed an AI-powered alternative credit scoring locally. We couldn't just copy from abroad because they don’t build for smallholder farmers.” Big thanks to Uganda Developer Summit and Refactory Academy for organizing an outstanding summit, filled with great conversations and much to ponder! 👏👏
