The #Beabosslady initiative, launched by BrighterMonday Uganda yesterday, aims to empower women in Uganda by providing training and skills to 22,000 women. This initiative enhances income growth by equipping women with soft skills to secure jobs or expand their businesses and increase their income by 5%-30%. It targets women seeking job opportunities, looking to grow their businesses, and Digital Financial Services (DFS) customers. One standout feature of this initiative is its accessible mode of delivery. Partnering with Arifu, the program offers courses in bite-sized portions through WhatsApp, available in both English and Luganda. This flexibility allows women to balance their busy schedules while advancing their skills. Acknowledgments to AmCham Uganda and FITSPA Uganda, for joining us and for their support and commitment—special thanks to the keynote speakers Dr. Shamim K. Eve Zalwango, and Irene Esther Mutuzo. Additionally, recognition is extended to the influential Boss ladies who lead by example in the job market and support the growth of women in various capacities: Lydia Amuge, Primera Muthoni, Shamim Nabaggala Walusimbi Nsubuga, Doreen Nakibombo, Agnes Kitumba Netunze, and Ms. Janai Jiwani . While 🇺🇬Uganda, the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMA) region, and the global stage share some common hurdles, their specific contexts present unique obstacles. The Ugandan #Fintech landscape is experiencing rapid growth, but it is primarily constrained by #infrastructure limitations, #regulatory uncertainties, and a lack of financial #literacy. The government's role in fostering a conducive regulatory environment and investing in #digital infrastructure is crucial. Additionally, fintech companies must prioritize financial #education initiatives to empower users and drive adoption. To find more insights on the challenges faced by fintech companies in Uganda and all over the world, and the recommendations to solve these challenges, download the full State of the Fintech Industry in Uganda 2024 report #FITSPAFintechReport2024 at: https://lnkd.in/dAjDPAvG #FITSPAFintechReport #FintechUganda #FITSPA

We're delighted to have participated in the ASIGMA Market Systems Development Convention 2024, on Leveraging Technology and Finance to Enhance Market Participation for Sustainable Development. Our very own Rashmi Pillai, FITSPA Uganda Board Director and Chairperson of the Legal, Policy and Advocacy Committee moderated a pivotal panel discussion on innovative financing mechanisms and models that drive market participation while integrating #climate resilience. The discussion also unpacked financing mechanisms and models supporting Tier 3 and 4 sectors. These models aim to improve market access and transform previously underserved market segments, including Women and #agriculture. Key takeaways from the esteemed panelists: - Ms. Eva Ssewagudde Jjagwe, Director, Strategy and Innovation at the Uganda Bankers' Association '(UBA) shared insights on how UBA has championed the integration of #ESG into financing models to support the development of sustainable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) ecosystems. - Ms. Jacqueline Mbabazi, Executive Director at the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda highlighted the organization’s efforts to build capacity and support its members in embedding ESG into their operations, contributing to a sustainable Tier 3 and 4 sector. - Mr. Danny Mutumba, Senior Manager at Access to Finance Programs discussed key learnings from the Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) Recovery Fund, emphasizing that governance gaps pose serious barriers to financing in Uganda. He also noted how the performance monitoring technology developed by ASIGMA has streamlined fund performance tracking. - Mr. Joseph Sanjula Lutwama, Director of Programs at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSD Uganda) and a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner underscored the value of blended financing in overcoming risk and regulatory challenges. He emphasized that partnerships between traditional institutions and more agile entities can mitigate the risks associated with sectors like agriculture and the informal economy, thus expanding financial access at the base of the pyramid. These insights underscore the power of fintech in driving inclusive growth and sustainable development. Thank you, ASIGMA, for convening this vital conversation among others! #FintechForGood #SustainableDevelopment #MarketSystems #FinancialInclusion #FITSPA #ASIGMA #Sustainability
