The HiPipo Women in Fintech Hackathon in Uganda is a powerful initiative, fostering empowerment and inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Aimed at bridging the gender gap, it equips women with essential skills, mentorship, and opportunities for career growth in the Fintech space. I believe that as women, we bring unique perspectives to financial technology, creating locally relevant solutions that address challenges faced by underbanked populations, such as access to financial services, credit, and savings. During the hackathon, participants are mentored by leading women in Uganda's fintech space. These role models inspire young women and girls to pursue careers in this sector. This event is more than a competition; it’s a step toward economic growth, especially as participants are encouraged to build interoperable fintech solutions.
