As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world.” We continue to work to improve the quality of education for improved outcomes. It was an exciting moment to have our board members and partners from both the social and private sectors convene in Boston, USA to deliberate about the transformation of Education in Africa. During the event, we got to share our story, learnings, the tremendous impact and possibilities for the children in Uganda. As Little Dreamers, we are committed to championing the transformation of Education, through our unique approach that focuses on equipping children with essential life skills, for better outcomes. Special appreciation to board members Mollie Van Horn, Michael Christian, Solomon Kayiwa Mugambe, Carla Sinatra, Tyler Calder, CFP®, Vetto Casado, the team from Someone Else's Child, Inc. and Ezra Cohen for making this a success! Together, we can rewrite the narrative of our children. Issroff Family Foundation Someone Else's Child, Inc. Dovetail Impact Foundation Tawingo Fund A to Z Impact #Education #Transformation #Africa

Education
We work to transform the traditional Ugandan primary education system to prepare children for a successful future.
About us
The Ugandan national curriculum employs rote learning, limiting the development of learners' critical thinking skills. The education system in Uganda already faces challenges in meeting young people’s needs. The current curriculum and teaching methods don’t consistently prepare children for what is to come following graduation. Despite an eagerness and commitment to learn, even students who finish school often lack the skills needed to overcome gender inequalities and secure one of the few available jobs leading to unemployment and poverty. At Little Dreamers we believe that by transforming education, we can equip children with the skills to disrupt systemic problems. Our approach is anchored around Life Skills Education such as critical thinking, decision-making, self-management, communication and interpersonal skills. This model enables children to acquire a skills-based education compatible with the mainstream government curriculum while preparing them for life after school and as changemakers for their respective communities.

There's never a dull moment with these wonderful learners. Whenever I get the chance to guide them, share a bit of my journey, or even just listen to their dreams, I gain a fresh perspective on what it means to be passionate and curious. Just last week, I spoke to a group of learners at Little Dreamers Education Academy. They asked everything from “How to make our community better?” to “What do you do when things go wrong?” Their eagerness to learn and their raw honesty was humbling. If you ever get the chance, take the time to connect with young minds. They have so much to teach us about life, resilience, and the limitless potential that's in dreaming big. Have you had a moment with young people that reminded you of something important?

This is why children should play throughout the school day 👇 #LearningThroughPlay is powerful. We’ve seen the evidence that children thrive on play, developing lifelong skills and boosting their achievements in the classroom. We’ve been gathering tried-and-tested evidence from schools and teachers who put play in their lesson plans. Dive in to learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eh8b-XgW

Drowning is one of the causes of death for children in Africa, and it’s preventable. But we can’t rely on emergency responses alone—we must focus on education and preparation. At Little Dreamers we believe that activities such as swimming not only make children safer, but also build confidence, discipline, and physical fitness. These are skills that extend far beyond the pool. Unfortunately many schools in Uganda don’t have the resources to teach swimming. That’s where we need to step in, as educators, policy makers, and community leaders to ensure that children acquire these vital skills. Because when we invest in our children’s safety, we’re investing in their future. What life skills do you think should be mandatory in primary schools?

Today, we celebrate the voices and dreams of girls across the world. This year’s theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” reminds us the urgent need to invest in girls and to show them it's okay to be a big dreamer. Meet Suffuler, a bright 10-year-old with a dream of becoming a medical doctor. But her dream doesn’t stop at herself—she’s thinking of her community and how she can make a difference in the lives of others. At Little Dreamers, we know that girls like Suffuler are already shaping the world today, not just preparing for tomorrow. By nurturing their dreams and giving them the support they need, we’re investing in a future that reflects their hopes and ideas. How are you helping girls build their future? #DayOfTheGirl #GirlsVision #InvestInGirls #FutureLeaders

At Little Dreamers we believe that play is one of the key ways we can unlock children's potential. When kids engage in play, they’re not just having fun — they’re learning how to learn. Research shows that play stimulates creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills — the very abilities that will shape their future success. It’s not about structure or rules — it’s about letting kids explore, experiment, and discover the world on their terms. They’re not just having fun. They’re learning skills that will last a lifetime. Let’s bring the joy of learning through play back into the conversation. P.S. What’s your favorite childhood game? Drop it below!
