Meet Flora Mwine, a 43-year-old banana farmer from Kirungi Village in Sembabule District, whose passion for farming has transformed her life and her family’s future. With support from NAADS, Flora received 450 tissue-cultured banana suckers in 2016, and her journey to success began. Today, she proudly manages a 3-acre banana plantation, allowing her to provide for her children's education and meet household financial needs. Twine Betty, a farmer from Ssembabule District, received a pregnant cow from the government through NAADS in 2017. The cow gave birth to a calf and has since grown her herd to three cows. Beyond providing milk for her to sell, the cow also produces manure, which Betty uses to fertilize her banana and coffee plantations enhancing her income and supporting sustainable farming in her community. In 2018, Kibira Ahamda, a farmer from Lwengo District, received a heifer from NAADS through the Government of Uganda's wealth creation initiative. Within six months, the heifer began producing returns, yielding 7 liters of milk per day and giving birth to another calf. This increased productivity has allowed Kibira to provide education for his children and improve the livelihoods of those in his community. Alfred Kizza, a senior manager at Kanyisa farm in Sembabule District has plan of owning 250 acres of hass avocado and 150 acres of macadamia. He encouraged by the fact that Hass avocado is a big deal in the international market. It has steadily risen over the years to become a hero crop for many farmers not just in Kenya but around the world. It is highly sought for by exporters due to its high returns. Busoga Diocese is one of five dioceses benefiting from an agriculture program in partnership with the Government of Uganda through NAADS. The Diocese received 40 heifers, 200 piglets, and 3,000 Croiler birds, significantly improving the socio-economic status of many local farmers.
