Busoga boasts with some of the world’s finest tourist attractions which if well marketed can catalyze the region’s development. And to explore these, Jinja will soon host a permanent PSFU office to foster partnerships and mutual prosperity for the region. Busoga kingdom has promised to work closely with us and other like-minded stakeholders to deliver transformation and prosperity for its people and the country at large. This follows the public endorsement of PSFU works in Busoga region by both the Kyabazinga and the Inhebantu. While delivering messages from both the King and the Queen at the 2024 PSFU Women’s Day Katale held at the Dam Waters Rugby Ground in Jinja from 15th to 17th March, Owek Osman Ahmed Noor, the Busoga kingdom second deputy Prime Minister (Katukiiro), expressed the kingdom's commitment to fostering partnerships with PSFU for the betterment of its people. Last weekend, GOAL was invited to participate in Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU)'s annual International Women's Day Katale (Market) event, which was organised in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. This expo takes place every year in recognition of International Women's Day, giving female entrepreneurs in Uganda an opportunity to showcase their products and network with industry professionals. GOAL is implementing the Markets for Youth programme in Uganda with support from the Mastercard Foundation. This project is supporting access to dignified and fulfilling work for over 300,000 young people in Uganda, of whom 210,000 are women. Our female M4Y participants were invited to showcase their products at the expo, which included everything from honey to eggs to fresh produce and much more. The #PSFUWomensDayKatale2024 was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their achievements, support their financial well-being, and promote the economic empowerment of women across Uganda.

Meet Esther Nahaluswa, another of the many enthusiastic exhibitors we had at the recently concluded #PSFUWomensDayKatale2024 at the Dam Waters Rugby Grounds Jinja. Esther runs Diner’s Rice Limited a company that practices agro processing of millet and rice. They do so by adding quality to the rice, packaging it and then selling it.
