Legume-based cover crops, like pulses, are a game-changer for sustainable food systems. They naturally enrich the soil, suppress weeds, and create resilience against droughts and floods. By fixing nitrogen, improving soil structure, and enhancing water retention, pulses lay the foundation for long-term soil fertility and food security. If we are to tackle challenges like depleted soils, food shortages, crop diseases, and climate extremes, integrating pulse cover crops must be at the solution's core. #Regenerativeagriculture #Pulses #Oilseeds #collaboration #synergy #SDGs Carol Mugide AgriProFocus Ug Kikazi Agri Products Ltd AL for Agribusiness Network Divine Organic Foods CURAD Makerere Innovation and Incubation Center The Neycha Accelerator & Fund Farmtorch

We Promote the production and consumption of pulses for food and nutrition security for a healthy lifestyle.
About us
Truism is redefining food security and building resilience to climate change for smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. At our core we fostering the production and consumption of dry pulses as an alternative plant protein, foster soil health as pulses natural fix nitrogen into the soil, reducing the reliance on synthetic fertilizers and shorten the supply chain. We are implementing an integrated traceable supply chain management system, implementing traceability from inputs in the field, to the final product, Visualizing data using dashboards to allow senior management and sector stakeholders to fully understand operations on a real-time basis without having to access the system directly. With Our automated AI-intelligent sorting system; we ensure quality, setting new standards for accountability and efficiency while bridging the gap between food processors, urban communities, and peri-urban areas, addressing the challenges of sourcing premium pulses. Our unique proposition lies in championing the movement of regenerative agriculture, where sustainability and productivity intersect seamlessly by integrating blockchain technologies into our operations, where we aggregate directly from Farmers increasing their income by up to 45% and lower the sourcing costs by 20%; as we thrive to foster dignified employment, and gender equality hence building an empowered workforce that will be a strong contributor to Africa’s economic development.

Our journey has been a testament to the power of collaboration. At every phase, we have been fortunate to have partners who have played a pivotal role in shaping our vision and turning our dreams into reality. The challenges we have faced—from securing budgets for farmer training, conducting last-mile monitoring and evaluation, onboarding farmers, and processing machinery to obtaining necessary certifications—have been significant. These milestones would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our partners, friends, and clients, who have consistently paved the way for us to take the next step. To all who have stood by us, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your support has been instrumental in our growth, and for that, we say a heartfelt thank you. Listening to Farmers: The Heart of Farmer-Centric Solutions Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to join Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE) ShareCARD and Marakwet Organic Farm Tooro Organic Farms in #FortPortal and #Kyenjojo to witness firsthand the power of farmer-led innovation. One key takeaway? Listening to farmers is not just important—it’s essential. When designing solutions for agriculture, the voices of farmers must be at the center. They are the experts of their land, their challenges, and their needs. By truly listening, we can co-create sustainable, practical, and impactful solutions that empower communities and drive real change. A huge thank you to the teams at Marakwet Organic Farm Tooro Organic Farms for their dedication to building farmer-centric projects. Together, we’re not just growing crops—we’re growing opportunities, resilience, and hope for a brighter future. Let’s continue to amplify the voices of farmers and work hand-in-hand to transform agriculture. 🌍💚 #Agriculture #FarmersFirst #Sustainability #Innovation #CommunityEmpowerment #OrganicFarming #Sharecard #MarakwetOrganicFarms #FortPortal Truism

What is side-selling – and why is it so bad for Ugandan coffee? ☕🚨 When farmers sell early for fast cash, they often accept lower prices and adopt bad practices like harvesting green cheeries or stripping. The result? Poor-quality coffee floods the supply chain, lowering Uganda’s reputation and keeping prices down for everyone. But here’s the good news: side-selling isn’t inevitable. Let's talk about how we can avoid it and build a better ecosystem for coffee (and other crops)! 🌍 Advancing Sustainable Agriculture Through Partnerships and Innovation We are thrilled to announce our partnership with FiberFoods to pilot the commercialization of a neglected superfood: This initiative underscores our commitment to SDG 17—Partnerships for the Goals—by fostering collaboration to drive meaningful change. This #superfood is not just a #nutritional #powerhouse; it has the potential to revolutionize local economies, empower communities, and promote #environmental #sustainability. Through this pilot study, we've achieved remarkable milestones: 🌱 Engaged 600 #farmers across 13 #districts. 🌳 Mapped 1,347 trees capable of supporting oyster nut cultivation. 📖 Documented traditional knowledge and best practices for crop care, ensuring cultural preservation. Re-Introducing this crop as a new #income source for smallholder farmers, helping lift communities out of poverty, Enhancing #foodsecurity with a sustainable and nutrient-dense crop, and Promoting inclusive participation by empowering women farmers, who play a crucial role in sustainable agriculture, Supporting rural economies through agroforestry-based income generation. This project embodies regenerative agriculture principles by integrating agroforestry, enhancing biodiversity, and restoring ecosystems. We are working towards greener landscapes and a healthier planet by promoting tree planting and sustainable land management. When this initiative comes to fruition, it will unlock a cascade of benefits for livelihoods, gender inclusion, sustainable agriculture practices, and a step forward in achieving a #resilient food system. Together, we can cultivate a future where agriculture regenerates the planet, communities thrive, and partnerships pave the way for a sustainable tomorrow. #SDGs #SustainableAgriculture #RegenerativeFarming #PartnershipsForTheGoals #GenderEquality #FoodSecurity #Agroforestry HIVE COLAB Carol Mugide Auma Carolyn Akao Phiona Morrow 중소벤처기업진흥공단(Korea SMEs Startups Agency) Robert Bob Okello Titus Rukundo Lyada SHONA Farmtorch Regen Harvests Kimera Allan Marion Alyek
