Minister of State for Animal Industry, Hon. Bright Rwamirama officially launched a mini dairy processing plant operated by Dwaniro Dairy and Livestock Cooperative Society in Kiboga district. The dairy farmers cooperative will now have the capacity to add value to raw milk by producing yoghurt and cheese. Uganda Development Bank (UDB) has supported the 400-member Cooperative society, now in its 14th year, by providing it with patient capital which was utilized to buy heifers. Through its Special Programs, UDB also supports farmer groups with capacity building in good governance, bookkeeping, debt and risk management, business planning, and strategic management, market planning and more. At the launch, the Minister revealed that Dwaniro was chosen among the 10 cooperatives to be supported, due to its exemplary practices. Hon. Rwamirama urged farmers to adopt better farming practices including breeds with high productivity as well as animals that are weather resistant. He further emphasized the need for high quality of milk products especially for the international market which currently provides the most demand for Uganda's milk. #UDBhere4U #UDBNafunamu
