In reaching out to families, kisedet adopted the Adult and Child Together- Raising Safe Kids behavioral change training program while targeting parents that exhibited violent and or rude behavior to their children. KISEDET rescued, rehabilitated and reunified 430 children formerly on streets with their families; 40 youth freed from addictions; and transformed parent -child communication among 131 parents. Kigwe Socio Economic Development and Training kisedet decision to implement Kizazi Kipya in Dodoma, Tanzania was informed by 2018 head count report on children living and working on streets jointly conducted by Ipsos Railway Children Africa, KISEDET, Safina Street Network, Pact Tanzania and the Government. KISEDET intervention was structured starting with rescue process where staff went to streets and familiarize with individual children through conversation to obtain background information used to generate individual children’s profiles. In Mbeya region, implementation ofKizazi Kipya program between 2017- 2021 was led by CARITAS Mbeya with a focus on the family, the street and the Youth in 38 wards. The intervention transformed for the better lives of adolescent children rescued from the streets in thousands and their families. Children living and working on streets in Tanzania was one of the priorities of action in the 2017/18 2021/22 National Plan of Action to End Violence Against Women and Children. Kizazi Kipya intervention was developed by Tanzania Government in collaboration with CSOs as one of the key strategies to address the challenge of Children living and working on streets. The Ni3 Centre in Uganda hosted by Makerere university, Department of Social Work and Social Administration, pioneered the development & testing of a prosocial video game (PEACE), aimed at changing negative social norms permissive of child marriage among teenage children in Uganda.
