Nearly 50% of apprentices don’t finish their apprenticeship. I am one of them. This isn’t just a statistic—it’s a reflection of broken systems, untapped potential, & countless untold stories. Behind this number are apprentices juggling work, study, & family responsibilities, often without the support they need to succeed. I’ve lived this reality. Two years into my degree apprenticeship, I was let go without a roadmap to continue. ❌ The result? A lost qualification and uncertainty about the future. But this isn’t just an apprentice issue— 🤝 Employers face their own challenges, from financial burdens to retention struggles. The solution? ✅ Recruiting the right candidates. ✅ Providing proper support and infrastructure. ✅ Offering opportunities to grow, develop, and thrive. Here's how I've invested in myself and pushed outside my comfort zone over the past three months... 💼 'New World New Skills' at PwC This was the closest thing to a proper 9-5 I've done yet 😢 • Pitched a strategy on sustainability solutions to senior PwC employees, recommending ways to drive environmental impact  • Met Laura Hinton, Managing Partner of PwC UK, who shares my home borough roots - a motivating connection! 🏎️ Formula 1 HQ Insight Experience My visit to the F1 UK headquarters was amazing! • Pitched a Bangkok Grand Prix street race to the Director of Strategy, showcasing strategic insights as acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). • Conducted financial analysis of projected costs and revenue forecasts using mock data. • Networked with M&A advisors and tech specialists involved in F1 app development. 🌐 Discovering Deutsche Bank Returning to Deutsche Bank for the THIRD time for a three-day placement was as enriching as ever! • Highlights included a mock pitch to senior European employees based on a social media startup. • Networked with VPs in FX, apprentices, and founders of DB's employee resource groups - these ERGs add immmense value to DB's work culture. • Looking forward to applying to DB's degree apprenticeships soon! 📈 Young Leader Training with The Brokerage I have to credit The Brokerage for what they did for me - my turn to prepare to give back! • Completed a rigorous week of training, highlighted by a masterclass in digital strategy and client engagement from Lloyds Banking Group’s Digital Engagement Director. 🔍 Mentorship and Career Preparation Get a mentor! ASAP. It helped me a lot through Year 12. I recommend it! 👍 • Balancing mentorship on CVs, cover letters and interviews with my own prep like sending off my Oxford application and gearing up for apprenticeship application season. • Mentoring five Year 12 students exploring A Levels, career paths and my area of expertise: the world of finance!  • Being both the mentor and mentee has enhanced my personal, academic and commercial awareness. 🎖️ Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award I'll be honest - this was NOT easy 😭 • Achieved the Gold DofE, with 116 accumulated hours of community volunteering and a five-day, 70 km expedition through mountainous terrain. • Currently assisting teachers as 'Lead Mentor' for Bronze DofE candidates at my sixth form. And the best for last.... 🌍 Vice Lead for Community Coordination at Outer Circle Stay tuned for a post on this soon! 👀 As you can see: 1. I have been busy 😅 2. I love to network 😁 3.
