Day one of 1Spatial’s World Tour featuring FME in Edinburgh: A Success! What an incredible start to our journey, diving deep into all things FME! Rebecca Meagor, our FME Lead, kicked off the event by introducing Adrian Porter, who showcased the latest tips and tricks in FME 2024, including the exciting updates in version 2024.1. We were thrilled to have three outstanding guest speakers: Dean Ellison shared insights on how FME is utilised at The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Will Hensman demonstrated the power of FME in delivering national geospatial datasets from local to national levels through the Improvement Service. Duncan McLeish passionately discussed using FME Form and Flow at AtkinsRéalis to understand the Environmental Risk Management Process for East West Rail. Additionally, Toby Jarvis presented a fascinating case study on a project 1Spatial collaborated on with a UK police force. Martyn Lufkin’s presentation on practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in FME sparked engaging conversations, leading seamlessly into our challenge and interaction session. Attendees discussed various FME challenges in groups, sharing outcomes and promoting new ways of thinking and collaboration. The 1Spatial Management Suite (1SMS) builds on our expertise in validation and data processing technologies like 1Integrate, to give you a full end to end data management suite that will give you confidence in the quality and consistency of your data workflows. From the planning stages, right through to delivery, the components that make up 1SMS manages each project using task-based workflows. For example, in PRIME2 (1SMS deployed for Ordnance Survey Ireland) a set of products that manage the end to end process of planning, maintaining and publishing spatial data. Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) has a proud history of quality and innovation. However, as Chief Executive Colin Bray explains, "for all that technology and innovation, we were still revising a cartographic product." The organisation realised that the solution was to move from updating map sheets (albeit in digital form) to maintaining a real world, object-oriented data model; a digital representation of the landscape. 1Spatial enjoys a strong relationship with OSi. We worked closely with them to develop and populate a new, real world object database PRIME2, and in the implementation of the 1Spatial Management Suite (1SMS) to manage the PRIME2 data.
