How award-winning MBA research is shaping 2i's journey to #NetZero 🌎 Ever since we established our goals to become a net-zero company, we’ve put a great number of initiatives into motion to propel us towards achieving that future. But as time goes on, how do you measure the success? This was a question that we looked to solve this year, and Nicolo Gerard Cruz excitedly rose to the occasion. Through a partnership with Strathclyde University, Nicolo was able to take charge on a project that’s right at the heart of our sustainability efforts, while also contributing greatly to the progression of his MBA program. His goal was to investigate 2i top to bottom in an effort to gauge our carbon footprint, and produce a clear, actionable report on: 🎯 How we’re progressing on our emission reduction targets 💪 Where we can keep pushing for improvement 🌱 And how we can stay on track for carbon neutrality The depth and quality of Nico’s work earned him one of the MBA Dean's Commendation Prizes and has been a greatly influential resource here at 2i. His report and recommendations are actively helping shape our approach to sustainability, paving the way for a greener future! 🍃 It’s great to see your hard work recognised Nicolo, and now it’s being put into action! 👏

Keeping Quality at the Heart of Software Delivery ❤️ It sounds obvious, but in an industry fuelled by speed and change it’s so important to stay focused on the real experience of the person at the end of the process. So how do we make sure we keep quality at the heart of everything we do? We embed it from the very start, making it part of every decision and sharing that responsibility among everybody. The implementation of quality practices at every stage of delivery: ❤️ Builds confidence in a service 🤝 Earns the trust of the people that depend on that service 🎯 Ensures projects are delivered on time and on budget Leading to successful launches everyone can be proud of. After all, no one likes nasty surprises hampering our deadlines. This topic was also central to our talk at #Digigov2024, where #Team2i's Tim Matson and Jamie Gagnon took to the stage and explored the personal and wide-reaching impacts of software quality in government. My favourite post of the week was by Alexia Oliver where she wrote an excellent article about psychological safety in product teams. She stated, 'If you want to foster a high performance team culture, start with psychological safety' and asked 'What steps are you taking to create this environment for your teams?'.
