This event brought together representatives from across the soldier systems landscape and provided a platform to showcase the development of solutions tailored to support a defined user community. As the C5ISR Solution Architect for the Land Special Operations Force, 2iC is leading the digital integration efforts. The QUICKSILVER Project, led by CDW UK in collaboration with MilUX and 2iC, demonstrated the rapid integration of in-service and cutting-edge technologies. On Monday, our CEO Graham Booth (seen in the main photo below) met the new Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon John Healey MP. He was joined by a select group of UK small businesses and mid-tier companies to discuss how to boost manufacturing in the defence sector. 2iC was very encouraged by the Secretary of State's focus on how to accelerate change in the industry and his intention to do more with innovative SMEs - and do it faster! On the same theme, Graham delivered a whitepaper at the recent 'Close Combat Symposium' entitled, “Soldier as a Sensor”. 2iC CEO, Graham Booth, will be presenting at the Close Combat Symposium tomorrow at the Defence Acadamy, Shrivenham. The concept of "Soldier as a Sensor" has been discussed in defence circles for decades, but the current reality is that most soldiers are not even digitally connected, much less functioning as "sensors". Graham will be presenting on the imperative for change within defence, identifying specific needs and proposing solutions. He will illustrate through global case studies and comparisons with non-defence sectors, a rapid route towards a connected and efficient software-enabled defence infrastructure. All of us at 2iC would like to express our great thanks and best wishes to Merfyn Lloyd following his retirement from the 2iC board. When we first met Merfyn, we immediately recognised our great shared understanding of, and interest in, military technology in general and digital interoperability in particular. Merfyn’s huge experience in that area, gained during his distinguished service and career in the British Army and his years working alongside the UK Ministry of Defence as a Civil Service scientist and science advisor, proved invaluable in 2iC’s development. Before his first ‘retirement’ and subsequent time working with 2iC, Merfyn spent eight years as the Science Advisor to the Chief of Materiel (Land) in Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) on secondment from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL). During this period, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the Land Open System Architecture (LOSA) programme. With a small team and working closely with UK defence industry colleagues, this introduced generic technical architectures based on open standards to the Land Environment. These are being implemented in UK MoD projects and are being adopted more widely by NATO countries and elsewhere. Merfyn was awarded the OBE in 2001. Whilst we will certainly miss Merfyn’s contribution in his role as a non-executive director, we’re delighted to say that Merfyn will continue to provide inputs to 2iC wherever he can. So, our sincere thanks and best wishes once more — and thanks also Merfyn Lloyd for your kind words and continuing encouragement in your own recent post.

We are delighted to announce that preventative care pioneer 2iC-Care has entered into a manufacturing agreement with Sony UK Technology Centre (UK TEC) as their manufacturing partner. 2iC-Care will leverage Sony UK Technology Centre's global manufacturing expertise to support the sustained delivery of 'Andi', a digital dispersed alarm unit that is installed in service users' homes to improve their quality of life and reduce reactive care costs for local authorities. The 'Andi' solution uses advanced digital interoperability software provided by 2iC Limited, which has been proven for the defence sector and is in use by defence forces across the world. This exciting announcement builds upon the exclusive agreement signed by us in February 2022 giving 2iC-Care the exclusive software distribution rights in the rapidly growing care sector. #DeviceIntegration #ConnectedCare #digitalinteroperability #DefTech
