We’ve finally cracked refillable milk bottles. And we want to tell you how. After 3 years. 7 teams of experts. And 3 failed experiments. We’ve done it. Thanks to plastic. Surprised? So were we. We’ve been saying no to pointless plastic since 1988. But by switching to our Club Zero Milk Refillable plastic bottles, our new innovation could save the UK 300,000 tonnes of carbon a year.* But only if all of our industry makes the switch. We’ve got years of learnings to share. And experts excited to tell you about it. All you have to do is get in touch. We’re ready when you are. During B Corp Month, we’re shining a light on some of the steps we’ve taken to use our business as a force for good. Our Foot in the Door programme is a paid placement we created in partnership with Blueprint for All. The aim was to help give greater access to beginning a career in the creative industry. Back in 2023, we welcomed our first applicant to our creative team, George Erdoğan. George worked alongside our studio team during a variety of shoots and recordings, experiencing first-hand the way they work and plan their schedule. Georgina Holland (MA), our Head of Marketing, was the driving force behind the programme. “A common experience is that your first foot on the ladder is about working for free or knowing the right people. We worked closely with Blueprint for All to set up our placement to be inclusive and accessible. Challenging assumptions like needing a CV when really you need to know someone’s passion.” We’re looking forward to welcoming our next Foot in the Door team member this summer. Our search for the most sustainable food and drink never stops. And we’re excited to announce a brand-new selection from Golden Hooves. Not only are Golden Hooves champions of regenerative farming but they’re part of a new collection of products that allow nature to thrive. These products sit alongside a ‘Nature in mind’ label, and were created as part of the Big Food Redesign Challenge, by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Sustainable Food Trust. It's applied to food products that have been designed in line with circular economy principles and seek to improve outcomes for nature. Golden Hooves certainly fit that bill. Their regenerative farming approach helps replenish the earths’ soil, increase biodiversity and lock carbon away. All while making delicious, top-quality cheese and crackers, using milk from First Milk – a B Corp-certified, regenerative farming co-op of around 700 British farmers. “We’re always looking for products that are demonstrably better for nature, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation has been an invaluable partner in helping us introduce some amazing stories of regeneration like this to our customers. ‘Nature in mind’ products are shown to be significantly better on a broad range of impacts important to us, including biodiversity, soil health, and climate.” Ed Ayton, Ethics & Sustainability Advisor. Gen B refers to the generation of people who are rooting business in action and inspiration. The ones that take the B Corp mentality beyond the label, turning it into positive change. “At Abel & Cole, we want to make 2025 the year we really pull out the stops to help biodiversity.” Ed Ayton, Ethics & Sustainability Advisor. Our new focus on biodiversity begins by practicing what we preach, with a boost to the biodiversity around our very own office. Our green-fingered Sustainability Advisor, Ed, began planting a wildlife hedge on the border of our Wimbledon office grounds. With help from volunteers around the office, they planted a brand-new hedgerow. It contains a mix of seven plant species that will provide a haven for local wildlife for many years to come. “Thanks to climate change and blight, the old box hedge around our car park has been looking worse for wear. Our new mix of species includes blackthorn, hazel, crab apple and dog rose, ensuring food and shelter through the year for a variety of birds, insects and more. It’ll also help sequester carbon, reduce pollution and look after the soil too.” We’re always working on more ways to be a sustainable business. Ever wanted to gain a new skill that could expand the scope of your role? This week is National Apprenticeship Week so we’re highlighting the opportunities an apprenticeship can bring. They’re one of the best ways to gain professional development, giving people access to qualifications that can be difficult to fund for individuals or company budgets. We always want to champion team members who are looking to develop themselves or their skillsets. In fact we have three people working on live apprenticeships at the moment. Our Sustainability Lead, Hugo Lynch, has been supporting his role in the business with an apprenticeship focused on becoming a Sustainability Business Specialist. “My route into the sector came through work experience in other disciplines and I didn’t come in with a recognized qualification in sustainability. Taking on this apprenticeship has enabled me to develop my knowledge and think laterally about the multiple aspects of sustainability an organization must manage.” Hugo Lynch, Sustainability Lead If you’re interested in exploring an apprenticeship, check out the Apprenticeship Standards site, here: https://lnkd.in/epvZyw2C #Apprenticeship #Development #Careers #Teams
