About us
Croeso i gartref Academi Heddwch – sefydliad heddwch cyntaf Cymru. Diben yr Academi Heddwch yw ymestyn traddodiad cryf Cymru o ran hyrwyddo a gweithio dros heddwch, drwy ddatblygu a chydgysylltu cymuned o ymchwilwyr annibynnol mewn meysydd cysylltiedig. Wedi’i ariannu gan Lywodraeth Cymru, bydd Academi Heddwch Cymru yn gweithio i sicrhau bod lle cadarn i heddwch ar agenda genedlaethol Cymru ac ar y llwyfan cenedlaethol, drwy gyfrwng y rhwydwaith byd-eang o sefydliadau heddwch sydd eisoes yn bodoli. Academi Heddwch is Wales’ first ‘peace institute’ – and one among a global family of research institutes bringing together the best academic minds and expertise to build a better world through peace-rooted approaches to global challenges. Academi Heddwch aims to extend Wales’ long-standing tradition of peace-making and peace-promotion, by developing and coordinating an independent community of researchers in related fields. Funded through Welsh Government, Academi Heddwch works to place peace firmly on Wales’ national agenda, as well as on the international stage through working with an existing global network of peace institutes.

I am humbled to share the brilliant work of Dr Jeni Williams - writer, academic, and community activist, in a new 'Mind Behind' interview. Jeni's journey through the realms of literature, academia, and activism exemplifies a relentless commitment to amplifying marginalised voices and fostering essential life skills. #peace #inclusion #voices #SDG16 University of Wales Trinity Saint David Swansea City of Sanctuary Academi Heddwch Cymru Refugee Women Connect #emergentthinkers #harminiousentrepreneurship Professor David A. My job gives me the best opportunities and they are often humbling. Today I attended the launch of the Petitioning for Peace exhibition at Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales St Fagan’s. After the First World War, nearly 400,000 women in Wales signed a peace petition and presented it to the women of the United States of America. They demanded a future without war. A century later, the Women’s Peace Petition and the chest were rediscovered and gifted back to Wales. The petition and chest, on loan from the National Library of Wales, is among the highlight objects of this exhibition. Also on display are the iconic protest banners from the 1980s Greenham Common peace camp, which are part of Amgueddfa Cymru’s collection. The exhibition offers an opportunity to discover more about some of the inspirational women who have played an important part in the campaign for world peace. I found out that there is an amazing community of transcribers revealing the history of those who had signed this document including many mothers who had lost their sons during the First World War. I met a volunteer transcriber from Ceredigion who told me that it’s an emotional experience as the local places and names are familiar. It was an emotional experience. There were great and impactful speeches from Ffion Fielding, Jill Evans MEP, Lowri Jenkins and Kath Davies which told us that this is not just a piece of history but an important part of our future.
