Head of Marketing at AccessAble | Leading accessible travel writer and speaker | Ambassador for UP - The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement | #DisabilityPower100
I was delighted to join yesterday's Marketing Team Day with National Trust to present on the importance of sharing accessibility information. I often find it tricky to gauge the audience's response during hybrid events like this one, so I was delighted to receive feedback from the team to say that my presentation was inspiring, eye-opening, informative, and most importantly highlighted the vast differences between people who need this information. AccessAble's partnership with National Trust recognises that access begins online, and that having comprehensive accessibility information removes a key barrier to people accessing holiday and leisure activities. Thank you to the whole team at National Trust for their commitment and dedication to this project. #AccessForAll #InclusiveMarketing
Yesterday we were joined by Carrie-Ann Lightley at our Marketing Team Day to talk about the importance of sharing factual, accurate and detailed access information with visitors to help them make informed choices about where they visit and stay with us. Over the last year we've been working with AccessAble to develop detailed access guides for all of our places and holiday accommodation. It has been a huge undertaking and, whilst we're not quite live with all of them yet, we now have hundreds of places with really good quality, independent-assessed detailed access guides helping our visitors and holiday makers make more informed choices and reducing the stress of planning a day out or a self-catering stay. It's one of the pieces of work at the Trust I am most proud of having had the privilege to lead and I am so grateful to everyone both at the Trust and at AccessAble who have put so much energy and positivity into this project. https://lnkd.in/etj4cmJT #accessibility #travel #tourism #disability #access

Back from a fabulous few days attending the Visit Hull & East Yorkshire tourism conference in Hull. The LVEP (Local Visitor Economy Partnership) is one of the first in England to partner with us on the Your Accessibility Guide portal. The portal, self funded by AccessAble, aims to tackle the postcode lottery disabled people face when it comes to the availability of quality assured accessibility information. It’s also here to support and enable businesses and venues of all sizes to get started on, or expand, their accessibility journey. Thanks to our partnership with VisitEngland led by Ross Calladine we are offering a range of discounts to enable tourism businesses to get involved. Assessments start from just £1 + VAT, for which venues not only receive a Detailed Access Guide published on www.AccessAble.co.uk, but handy tips on how accessibility could be improved in the future. We really look forward to working with all the wonderful businesses and venues in Hull and East Yorkshire to showcase the region to our 6 million + website users. A huge thank you to everyone involved in #VHEYConf24 and to everyone supporting our work.
