🏅 Accu’s very own take on the 2024 Olympics! 🏅 Last Friday, following our very special visit from the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, we thought we’d do something a little different to kick-off our annual summer party… 🎉 With the Paris Olympics just around the corner, Team Accu decided to put their own spin on the games. 🏟️ Hosted on Accu’s very own Yorkshire countryside grounds in the gorgeous sun, 11 teams competed in team events for the title of ‘Accu Olympic Champions’. 🏆 With the more conventional games ranging from riding (or trying to!) an inflatable rodeo bull, Gladiators-style jousting battles and a bouncy castle slide relay, our engineers also designed Accu themed games… of course! ⚔️ A new classic was invented in the form of the ‘Nut & Spoon’ race, with the ‘Spin the Lead Screw Nut up the Lead Screw’ challenge a popular hit too! 🔩 The victory was handed to Rob, Mollie, Lewis, Mel, Aaron and Kryspin who enjoyed a bottle of Champagne and new Team Accu rewards. 💸🍾 Well done to all of our winners and to everyone for taking part! 🇬🇧 👑 Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire visits Accu 2024 👑 🇬🇧 Last week, on Friday 19th July, we were delighted to welcome Ed Anderson, Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, to formally present our prestigious The King's Awards for Enterprise in International Trade. 🏆 Visitors from local businesses and charities were invited to share this special moment with Accu over breakfast treats & drinks. 🥐🍓☕ Our guests were treated to a tour of our new HQ, learning all about the people and teams that make up Accu. 🤝 Starting in our Wellbeing Room 🎗️, our visitors were welcome by Mollie, our Lead Mental Health First Aider. Mollie explained the importance of recognising mental health as a priority throughout the business and our plans to continuously improve this space, adapting to the needs of each team member. 💚 After seeing our new office spaces and meeting rooms, where further developments, including technology-focused enhancements are ongoing, the Lord Lieutenant & our visitors were shown around the warehouse; seeing what it takes to supply components to over 100 countries across the globe. 🗺️ Next up, Matthew & Patrick from our Marketing & Engineering teams respectively, led a short presentation on FightFest the fighting robot championship we’re helping bring to Magna Science Adventure Centre in Yorkshire this summer, and other STEM related competitions & events Accu supports. 🤖 Our guests then had the chance to learn how to apply thread locking patches to our stainless steel screws, finishing with a look around our Goods In & Dispatch areas. 📦 Throughout the visit, we shared the company’s latest plans for continued growth, including our vision to offer even more opportunities for collaborations with local talent, organisations & charities, along with a presentation summarising our significant growth in overseas sales over the past six years. 🙏 During his presentation of our King’s Award, the Lord Lieutenant praised Team Accu for our “positive vibes”, “strong work ethic” and our very evident “team player attitude”, noting that he felt we should all be very proud of our award win as an “outstanding business” that the Kirklees area was lucky to have. 🫶 #TeamAccu #BuildingTomorrow #KingsAwards #LordLieutenant #WestYorkshire #AwardWin

A HUGE well done to Patrick, Albert, Daniel & friends for completing their climb up Snowdon at the end of June! ⛰️ Taking on a 4.5 hour trek in the dark, the team raised a fantastic £600 for their chosen charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). One word... AMAZING! 👏 We’re incredibly proud of you all! 🫶 CALM are a suicide prevention charity that established in 1997 when their life-saving helpline was launched in Manchester. Well done Albert! 👏 Tell us about your job role here at Accu. 🔩 I work on the Customer Application Engineering Team. Day-to-day I deal with custom manufacture requests & assisting customers and colleagues with technical support. What is your favourite thing about being part of Accu? 💙 Other than the 4-day week, (🙌) I love the teams I work with and that people can always come to me for technical information and support. 👥 How is your free time outside of work spent? 🤩 In my spare time I like to keep very active, working out in the gym, climbing, walking, park running and playing badminton 🏸 🚶 On 28th June, myself and a group of friends walked up Snowdon in the dark to raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably, a mental health charity that work to prevent suicide in the UK. Had a fantastic time exhibiting at #STEMFest this week (2-4 July) at The Life Centre in Bradford. Over the 3 days we challenged over 1000 schoolchildren, their teachers and our fellow exhibitors from STEM businesses across Yorkshire to our Accu Maze Time Trial. The challenge showcases our mission to make engineering components accessible to those innovating and driving change - the faster they get their components, the faster they can get #BuildingTomorrow On top of this, we promoted FightFest - the European Featherweight Fighting Robot Championship that’s coming to Magna Science Adventure Centre this summer (24th - 26th August) Together with the FightFest team and our partners at Extreme Robots, we’re thrilled to be able to bring this awesome STEM event to Yorkshire - with the aim of inspiring the next generation of engineers! What a day WYCA team at #STEMFest 🚀Yorkshire, 17,000 young learners are attending over 3 days to meet 60 employers to participate in inspiring activities and to open their minds to the exciting careers in space & travel, health & well- being, cyber security, tech & digital and manufacturing & engineering. 🎉 Day 2 was very busy with so many curious and excited children and teachers who came onto our stand to use coding skills, to learn all about data analysis skills, create an audio video game and to learn about entrepreneurship. It was great to catch up with Arla Foods the UK’s largest dairy cooperative and to see Cummins Inc. who are focused on STEM education and had a very impressive Dodge Ram. I loved the discussion around inclusion and getting more girls and women into engineering at Yorkshire Water Sara Knight thank you. Accu are certainly building tomorrow 🙌🏽 and PeoplePlus UK Liz Shaw, those VR headsets were the big attraction for so many learners to Be Your Own Boss! I really valued meeting other amazing team members at the West Yorkshire Combined Authority who are all passionate to #MakeaDifference , I think we can all say that all of these learners will leave feeling empowered and part of this sector! 💡#STEMFest 2024 in Bradford 💡 What a great time at day 3 of STEMFest - providing the opportunity for hundreds of Year 7 & 8 students from across West Yorkshire to explore careers in STEM! At the West Yorkshire Combined Authority stand we: 📍 mapped favourite places across WY 🔎 managed organised chaos with VR headsets that are used to prepare entrepreneurs for the stages of building a business 🎧 helped students escape into a world of 3D sound It was great to talk to the other businesses exhibiting, including Accu pictured below with their brilliant interactive activity! 🏎️
