One of our crews are currently situated in Sheffield providing our client with a number of boreholes to further their understanding of the ground conditions on site. The crew are initially coring through the concrete as requested by the client, then proceeding with a T6116 core along with continuous SPT’s. Water flush has been opted for as requested by The Coal Authority as well as use of gas monitors. Due to locations being inside buildings we have took precautions with ventilation to ensure our workforce is protected from unnecessary fumes inhalation. Our Beretta T-41 has just completed a month project in Scotland, undertaking sub contracting work for a long standing client. The job consisted of T6-116 coring along with down the hole geophysics and packer testing. All in all a well executed job with correct planning whilst on site ensuring all work was completed to schedule in a safe manner. We had the pleasure of working with a new client last week, providing the installation of 5 water monitoring pipes. Alongside drilling boreholes we also provide services for the decommissioning of existing boreholes which are no longer of use to the client. A recent project completed by one of our crews involved removing piezo pipes, headworks and fencing of 3 boreholes which were obstructing further works taking place on site. A valued client asked for our assistance at very short notice, which we were happy to oblige with to ensure the people we work with in turn are able to keep their clients happy. One of our GT-54’s has been out in the field in Bradford this week, open holing down to rock head and then continuing with PWF core to provide our client with samples to identify the quality of the rock beneath. Given the very boggy site conditions we brought along our trusty Red Ferrari with an IBC to supply water, aswell as to mobilise our trailer around site. Bog mats were also used to provide safer working conditions to the crew on site. It also made sense to use this particular rig as its wide track base vastly aids its mobility through tricky terrain, also due to its 300L/min pump and 8 speed head it provided us with much more power than a smaller rig which in turn increased productivity. These decisions made prior to arriving on site ensure we are fully prepared to avoid potential issues that could crop up during works. Last week marked the end of a fantastic project that two of our rigs were a part of, sub contracting for one of our longest standing clients in Soil Engineering Geoservices Limited It was a shame to see the project come to a close after six weeks with a brilliant on site team. We were tasked with a mix of cored holes and open holes probing for potential mine workings, along with installing gas and water monitoring stand pipes. Several potential issues cropped up whilst we got through the work which is in the nature of the job of course! From a fault running directly through the middle of one area of the site to poor ground conditions given the time of year. All of which were dealt with professionally and efficiently by both our drilling crews and the assistance provided on site.
