Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, presented her first Budget on 30 October 2024. It was the first Labour Budget in 14 years and the first Budget from a female Chancellor. The Government stated in their manifesto that they would not increase taxes on working people and the Chancellor confirmed during the Budget presentation that there would no increases to the basic, higher or additional rates of income tax, employee National Insurance or VAT. The Government has announced plans to increase size limits for micro, small and medium sized companies, increasing the turnover and net asset thresholds by approximately 50%. The new legislation is expected to come into force on 6th April 2025, although we don’t know which financial periods the changes will take effect from. The changes will impact the financial reporting and auditing requirements for a number of companies, and reduce the regulatory burden for some. We’ll keep you updated when further information is available. https://lnkd.in/epYkRAHF
