Until next time Berlin, it's been a pleasure. The Actis team has enjoyed meeting investors and speaking at the Infrastructure Investor Global Summit 2025 this week - discussing how we aim to generate compelling returns by providing critical, sustainable infrastructure. We noted particular interest in energy infrastructure in growth markets – according to the IEA's latest forecasts, 85% of the additional demand for electricity through 2027 will come from these markets. Actis invests in institutionally mature markets with strong demand for critical infrastructure across Latin America, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; markets with a growing demand for energy thanks to key structural themes - industrialisation, urbanisation, and the need for energy security and access - on top of which growth from rising digital infrastructure demand can be added. We are seeing investors increasingly interested in the opportunities presented by these markets - economies that are vast and diverse, and each with their own merits. These markets continue to be underserved by the world's capital, despite being the drivers of demand and growth in today's global economy. It is thanks to such growth markets and the risk mitigation strategies Actis deploys, combined with our industrialist mindset, longevity and expertise in the markets and sectors we invest in, and sustainability, that we seek to generate alpha returns from core infrastructure investments. 🌞 | Powering a sustainable future in Southeast Asia Actis is proud to announce the completion of a major investment in MTerra Solar, one of the world’s largest integrated solar and battery energy storage projects when fully commissioned as measured by battery energy storage capacity, located in the Philippines. Through a US$600 million investment for a stake in MTerra Solar, Actis joins forces with MGEN Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen) and SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC) to accelerate the development of this landmark renewable energy project. MTerra Solar by the numbers: - 3,500MWp of installed solar PV capacity - 4,500MWh of battery energy storage - Seeking to supply power to approximately 2.4 million households - Contracted capacity of 850MW over 20 years - The largest foreign direct investment in a single greenfield infrastructure project in the Philippines Manny Rubio, President and CEO of Meralco PowerGen (MGEN) and SPNEC, said: “We are tapping Actis’ expertise in project execution and operations – identifying, managing, and mitigating risks. Their experience delivering 36GW of projects globally, and more specifically in emerging markets such as the Philippines, was highly attractive. In addition, we found Actis shares the common vision with MGEN of being able to optimise the project commercially. Actis is a strong complement to MGEN’s role and network in the Philippines. MTerra Solar will be the catalyst not only to decarbonise, but also to encourage large gigawatt-scale projects and renewable energy investments in the region. With the right policies, grid modernisation, and private sector participation, the Philippines can become a leader in clean energy.” This partnership supports the Philippines' ambitions to achieve 35% renewable energy by 2030, while enhancing energy security and delivering long-term, sustainable growth.
