There are some pretty gorgeous looking trainers out there but what does a great trainer really look like? After recently rewatching the Rocky movies, I was inspired to share these thoughts. #exerciseforeveryone #wellness

Last year the CIPD produced a report highlighting a 35% increase in sickness absence of staff - the highest level in a decade. The COVID epidemic inevitably effected these numbers, but be interesting to see what the latest numbers will be and what initiatives organisations and #hrleaders have taken to address it. https://lnkd.in/eNQsE37K

Tip number six for staying active in the office. What do your lunchbreaks look like? Can you add an active component to your break half way through the day? Even just taking a step out of the office and a short walk can be a great way to regroup and get the best from the afternoon. #corporatewellness #activeintheoffice #exerciseforeveryone

Leadership Coach | Working with leaders in and with nature | Ethical Leadership Programme Bespoke Mindfulness Training for leaders and leadership teams
What helps me be well in my mind and heart? Self-awareness: Being aware of my conditioned tendencies, difficulties, behaviour and knowing how to practise when I get activated, ie taking responsibility for my responses. Attitude: Cultivating strength of heart through practising compassion and kindness towards myself and others. Relationality: Remembering that the quality of the relationship I have with myself determines the quality of the relationships I have with others, that I have an impact on others and the world because I'm always in relationship with others. We are relational beings, interconnected, interdependent with all life. Insight and wisdom: Waking up to how things really are versus how I think they should be or how life should be. There is of course no law in the universe that says how life should be, it just is. Ethics: Becoming more sensitive about how I treat others and my environment. It’s about becoming more aware of my actions, my intentions, my communication and judgments, assumptions, views and how it affects others. Total Jobs asked me to contribute to an article on mindfulness at work. The above is an excerpt. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ecJ3D4HU Imagine if senior leaders and employees created a work culture where the above aspects of mindfulness practice were the norm and demonstrated on a daily basis? #mindfulness #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #selfawarness #kindness #compassion #ethics #relationships #companyculture

It's Women's Health month and these shocking workplace statistics are well worth a read from @menopauseworkplacetrainingnetwork https://lnkd.in/eH8VwDbp
⭐ Supporting Women's Health ⭐ THE FACTS: 📌 Three quarters of women, according to a major government health survey, stated that they were unlikely to raise health issues at work. 📌 5.8% of women workers have had their health affected by work. 📌 Women in full-time employment are nearly twice as likely to have a common mental health problem as full-time employed men. 📌 Almost 150 million working days are lost each year on account of women workers being absent. This is why it’s more important than ever to take the time to recognise the importance of providing support to female colleagues in the workplace. Menstruation and menopause are complex and often misunderstood but, in some cases, can have detrimental physical and mental health impacts to those experiencing them. The lack of open discussion around these topics can make it difficult for individuals to be at their best in the workplace. Providing adequate support, training and guidance in the workplace can have hugely positive impacts on building productive and inclusive workplace cultures. If you’re looking to start the conversation around menstruation, menstrual health and menopause this Women’s Health Month, then please get in touch. 💻 https://lnkd.in/dGs48T4

An annual health and fitness check sound like a great office perk but compulsory weigh ins sound horrendous! Thoughts? #corporatewellness #activeintheoffice #obesitycrises

Obesity .. is there a solution ?! Should the UK follow Japan’s strategy on obesity … Compulsory fitness checks and companies having healthy weight targets for employees. Sounds extreme but… In Japan, in the 1960s they had an obesity epidemic with lowest life expectancy in the G7. Within 2 decades they now have the highest life expectancy. Here’s how they changed a nations health: - Promoting traditional Japanese diet rich in vegetables, fish, and rice. - Encouraging physical activity through daily routines such as walking and cycling( from the age of 5 walking to school was expected ) - Implementing school-based education programs on nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits. - Creating environments for physical activity, such as public parks and walking paths. - Incorporating exercise into daily life through activities like gardening and commuting by bicycle. - Fostering a culture that values health and wellness, including workplace initiatives. -Addressing societal factors contributing to obesity, such as stress and work-life balance. We have an issue in the UK ; - The number of people under 40 years old with type 2 diabetes has risen by 23 per cent in just five years ( Diabetes UK) - 64% Uk adults are overweight - 11 million more people expected to be obese by 2030 Leading to numerous additional health conditions and issues. Who’s got the solution for the UK .. Please Move Your Printer Top tip number four for staying active in the office: Consider the placement of your regular destinations during the working day, can you make them less convenient? Think about moving the bin to another room, moving the printer upstairs, going up a floor or two to use their toilet instead of the one closest to you. Replace the large bottle of water at your desk with a small glass and take more frequent trips to the water cooler. Think about how you can help yourself move more during the day by inconveniencing yourself, because #ConvenienceDoesntMeanGoodForYou
