Last week saw the launch of adam&eveDDB's latest campaign with Campaign Against Living Miserably, Missed Birthdays, which seeks to turn the tragic increase of youth suicide in the UK into an unignorable and nationwide talking point. At the heart of the campaign was a major activation at Westfield White City which went live between 9th and 11th of September, including World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. The installation used a universal symbol of celebration, birthday balloons, to deliver a sombre message of loss and raise awareness of the tragedy that is youth suicide. It featured 6,929 balloons, each one representing a young person who has died by suicide in the last decade and the ensuing birthday that they did not reach. Visitors of the exhibition were given the opportunity to hear intimate voice notes from loved ones who have lost a young person to suicide, describing what they were like and what they hope to achieve in being part of the Missed Birthdays campaign. Our Studios team played a pivotal role in producing the supporting national campaign that ran across press, OOH, display and social featuring the young people lost – each balloon colour carefully chosen by their families. To enable trusted adults to play an active role in ending youth suicide, all messaging in the campaign directs to a newly-created resource, the CALM C.A.R.E kit – a suite of practical tools and resources to equip you with everything you need to be there for a young person - from introducing the topic to keeping them safe in crisis. COMPETE! 🥇 As part of our recent “They’re not playing games” campaign - created with our partners at adam&eveDDB & adam&eveDDB US - for the International Paralympic Committee, some of the world’s leading Paralympians have declared on their social channels that they’re not “participating” in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. But by swiping left, followers on social media will discover the athletes declaring “I will be competing” – a reminder that Paralympians have often been praised simply for taking part in sport, not because of their elite skills or fierce drive to win. As part of the wider campaign to drive viewership for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this social strategy has been created to spark conversations around the language used to describe Paralympians, compared to athletes who compete without a disability.
