  • Don’t forget ⏰ Tonight in UK and Ireland, the clocks go back an hour and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) begins! For most this means an extra hour in bed (hopefully!) and brighter mornings. But what does it mean for those of us on time critical medication? Here are some reminders for those living with Addison's disease or adrenal insufficiency, ahead of the clocks going back by an hour. 🌙 Change your clocks before you go to bed. This way when you wake up to take your morning medication, this will match the new time of day. 💊 On Sunday morning, double check that the clocks around your house are correct to avoid getting caught out and taking future doses at the wrong time of day. 🎵 Check that any alarms you have set to remember your dosing throughout the day are still accurate. 🩺 If you're on hydrocortisone infusion pump therapy, remember to change the time on your pump as well. Looking for more support and information? Join our charity and help make our voice stronger 📩 https://lnkd.in/gTiqFmM

    • Text reads: "Don't forget to change your clocks. Make sure your medication doses match the new times of day". Image of an alarm clock in ADSHG colours teal and purple shaking alongside a grey pill packet and the ADSHG logo.

    • Quote box thanking Dan and Fat Face for fundraising. Quote from Dan reads: "I have had Addison's for about 28 years. Being part of the ADSHG has been invaluable, especially the supportive member's forum. In April, after some health issues forced me to leave full-time work, I joined FatFace. It's been one of the best decisions - the team is amazing and it doesn't feel like work. Plus, I love the clothes! FatFace supports many charities and kindly donated £500 to the ADSHG, which I nominated. I want to say a huge thank you to both FatFace and the ADSHG for their incredible work."
  • It’s getting to the time of year when there are more coughs and colds about. No one likes being unwell, but if you live with Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency and are unwell, you need more than just a duvet day💤 It is important to follow the Sick Day Rules. 🤒 Remind yourself of the Sick Day Rules by reading the page on our website, so if you do become unwell, you know what to do. Our top tips are: 🦠 Listen to your body - recognise the early symptoms of a bug or cold. 💊 Adjust your steroid replacement medication accordingly to account for the additional strain on your body. 🤝 Educate those close to you about the Sick Day Rules so they can help you if you do become unwell. Even though these may seem like "minor" ailments, it’s important to adjust your medication. These extra doses help your body to respond to illness, injury or stress. • This week is Invisible Disabilities Week. Did you know that over 10 million people in the UK live daily with a condition that you cannot see? Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency is one of these invisible conditions. We live with it, but many misunderstand it, what we have to do to manage it, and there are lots of misconceptions out there. Invisible illness and disability are not actually all that invisible - if you know what to look for. ⚖️ People with invisible conditions may be struggling with symptoms and extra daily tasks their condition requires, but when you see them in the street, you wouldn’t know anything is wrong. This is why it is really important to not make assumptions and treat everyone as an individual. ❓ What are some of the questions you've been asked about your Addison’s or adrenal insufficiency? Are there any myths that you’d like to debunk? Please share your experiences of dealing with different opinions around Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency in the comments, and help show people what living with the condition is really like by sharing your story ⤵️
