  • As part of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) nationwide Railway Access for All (AfA) strategy, a new footbridge spanning across all six platforms at Hither Green station with four new 16-person lifts and staircases are being installed. The creation of two new accessible station entrances at Fernbrook Road and Springbank Road will provide travellers with an accessible route throughout the station and to and from platforms at Hither Green station. Our client BAM Nuttall instructed us to support and move the High Voltage cables on both sides of the station to make way for the new development. Our Stage One scope was to book all the outages, provide all commissioning documentation and pre-commission new cables, divert one fluid filled Feeder and one XLPE Feeder and decommission the old cables. This alongside moving the Quad and paired Pilot cables. We have worked with BAM regularly over the last few years and in fact we have delivered in collaboration around 36 miles of new XLPE Feeders as part of the CP6 deliveries in E&P. This involved introducing the first 20 Year Extended Warranties into the Network Rail Infrastructure through 3M Products and our significant involvement in the QECC program. Leading this project for BAM was James Kavanagh Project Manager and Lee Perry E&P Project Engineer along with Sean Pilbeam Construction Manager and we must say it’s been a complete pleasure working alongside this team. Their expertise, combined with ours in the Rail Infrastructure, has truly contributed to a smooth project delivery.  However, this project isn’t yet completed both HV Cable Assets and Pilots have Stage Two works that will take place this year and we again look forward to supporting. A big Well Done to everyone involved in delivering this major work. For more information on the overall project please visit https://lnkd.in/ekk4hzzU @bamukandireland. Over the weekend, our dedicated crews successfully completed a challenging project involving a 33kV Fluid Cable Change Diversion in Southeast London. This intricate task included a 33kV Fluid cable bypass with 56 cores terminated into an external Pilot Box, 20 pairs returning to the Substation, and wiring alterations at the Substations. Despite the complexities of shifting and lifting tanks under road closures, along with establishing new HV connections at the Substation, everything was executed seamlessly as part of the weekend outage, adhering to all necessary permits and rigorous Testing and Commissioning procedures. A round of applause to our hardworking teams who managed three sites simultaneously over the weekend, showcasing exceptional teamwork under pressure and ensuring timely completion of the projects. A special acknowledgment goes to Layla Jordon, our Office Manager and Wellbeing Champion, who went above and beyond by actively participating in the weekend's HV changeovers. Despite her usual office responsibilities, Office Management, Wellbeing of our Teams etc, Layla swapped spreadsheets for jointing, testing, and even installing links in the Pilot Box, under supervision, alongside the team. Her hands-on involvement, breaking stereotypes, and demonstrating remarkable dedication truly embody the spirit of empowerment and teamwork. We take pride in the contributions of all the incredible women in our organization, highlighting their invaluable role in our success alongside their male counterparts. • Weekend works over in Essex. What a weekend, three sites running and all three commissioned and delivered ontime. The scope on this particular site was pre-commissioning a HV Cable from the overhead 25kV structure straight onto a PSP Transformer and then completing the Terminations and Commissioning the cable ready to be powered up. At the same time extensive OLE works were being installed and adjusted to power this up. Here are a few photographs from site over the weekend. • On a very cold weekend night shift a couple of weeks back, our scope was to collect one refurbished 22kV Breaker, deliver onsite inside a possession and then recover two other units from different substations on the same line. The RRV onsite, unloaded the route protection plates to protect cables for our lifting actives, then unloaded our replacement Breaker and mini crane. The mini crane then lifted the Breaker from the pallet into the substation straight onto the racking unit. This was pre-works for CP7 to enable route works to commence under switch outs. We love this little machine. We used it just before Christmas for an 11kV switchgear replacement. • Description 11kV cable pre-commission, installation of terminations and final commissioning of cable and the new stepdown transformer including commissioning of the protection unit. The project was an SSE connection feeding a Railway shore supply within a depot. A little tight on the glanding of the cable but the team made it happen, to the clients delight, good work to all the teams involved.
