Supporting next-generation battery technology in the UK 🔋 We had a great time yesterday at Petalite's offices in Birmingham, hearing about the successes of the ULTRA project, which was funded by Department for Business and Trade through the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK. Led by MAGTEC/Magnetic Systems Technology Ltd with Avocet Battery Materials - ABM and Petalite, the project was focused on energy storage and energy management, with every consortium partner contributing to the successful deployment of these UK-manufactured EV technologies. We were joined for the day by members of the consortium and Innovate UK to hear about what the project has achieved since it started in 2021. Find out more about this project 👉 https://okt.to/8TVMKh Could your project be our next success story? ⭐ Collaborative R&D competitions run throughout the year, offering your zero-emission technology project the chance to receive funding and support from our expert team. We help to accelerate the transition to a net-zero automotive industry through funding, support and insights.
About us
The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) collaborates with UK government, the automotive industry and academia to accelerate the industrialisation of technologies, supporting the transition to deliver net-zero emission vehicles. Since its foundation in 2013, APC has funded 170 low-carbon projects involving 402 partners, working with companies of all sizes, and has helped to create or safeguard nearly 50,000 jobs in the UK. The technologies developed in these projects are projected to save over 288 million tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of removing the lifetime emissions from 12 million cars. With its deep sector expertise and cutting-edge knowledge of new propulsion technologies, APC’s role in building and advising project consortia helps projects start more quickly and deliver increased value. In the longer term, its work to drive innovation and encourage collaboration is building the foundations for a successful and sustainable UK automotive industry. In 2019 the UK government committed the Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF) to accelerate the development of a net-zero vehicle supply chain, enabling UK-based manufacturers to serve global markets. ATF investments are awarded through the APC to support strategically important UK capital and R&D investments that will enable companies involved in batteries, motors and drives, power electronics, fuel cells, recycling, and associated supply chains to anchor their future.

A really exciting development that we're proud to have helped on its journey! 👏 Part of a project that looked into EV development and the advancement of EV battery reuse, recycling and energy balancing technology, you can read more about the project goals here 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-ZV8zNd #V2G #recycling #EVbattery
Imagine a future where your electric vehicle (EV) isn’t just a way to get from Point A to Point B, but a key player in powering your home, cutting down your energy bills, and contributing to a carbon-free future. That future is now closer than ever. Leveraging over 15 years of experience in EV innovation, we’ve taken a huge step beyond the car. Just last week, we confirmed our plans to bring simple, seamless, and affordable Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to Europe, starting in the UK in 2026. Following a successful year-long project at the University of Nottingham, UK, Nissan has become the first car company to achieve G99 Grid code certification with an AC-based solution, allowing us to feed electricity into the UK national grid. This project was made possible by our strong partnerships with the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC), Dreev, and Enovates. As the energy sector experiences a massive transformation and renewable energy supply fluctuates, V2G technology will be a game-changer. It allows customers to store and discharge energy back into their home or the grid during peak times, reducing dependency on fossil fuels and supporting the integration of renewables into the grid. This announcement is a cornerstone of our Nissan AMIEO Sustainability 2030 strategy, where we use the diversity of the region to address global sustainability challenges with locally focused, scalable solutions. Our teams are united, daring, and ambitious as we drive forward towards a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive future. A special thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this initiative to life, and a shoutout to Chief Sustainability Officer Joji Tagawa and VP Global Electrification Ecosystem & EV Programs Hugues Desmarchelier for being part of this exciting day. #Nissan #V2G #NissanEnergy #TheArc #EV
