The search for our next cohort of Programme Directors has taken us across the UK and beyond. From Sheffield to Sweden, Bristol to Boston, we’ve connected with research orgs, VCs, and academic institutions to share more about our funding opportunities + what we’re looking for in future PDs. Here are four key points we shared on the road: 1) We’re career stage-agnostic. You don’t need to be C-suite or a Head of Faculty to apply; we’re open to candidates of any level of seniority. 2) You can apply from outside the UK – and from outside academia. We want to hear from people all over the world and we’re keen to hire from industry. 3) When we say we give PDs freedom, we mean it. We equip PDs with a bespoke team who empower them to run discovery, develop an opportunity space, then craft a programme of their own design. 4) Our opportunity spaces are not exhaustive. We want you to tell us where else we should be pursuing breakthroughs – and our new PDs will take us there. Apply to join our next cohort by Monday 7 October [23:59 BST]: https://lnkd.in/e6eDgfsC

“Where do I get the data about what it feels like to pick a strawberry or to make a sandwich? Only through physical interactions can robots truly make sense of their environment.” Programme Director Jenny Read spoke to The Observer about how advances in robotic bodies have failed to keep pace with the software + the need to rapidly improve their physical capabilities so they can help with the demanding tasks we need them to handle.
