#AsSeenInPrint | Into the Sunlight Maia Flore's 'Constellation' is on the cover of our recent issue. This image shows a dramatically lit figure, in a red jumpsuit, bounding towards the camera. What are they running to? Or from? "The French photographer has developed a reputation for constructing dreamworlds where figures float, balance and bend, sometimes defying the laws of physics. Her compositions are crisp and colourful, to the point that they border on the surreal." The Aesthetica Art Prize shortlists innovative voices in film, sculpture, photography and more. This year, 21 trailblazing artists were shortlisted and exhibited at York Art Gallery. Meet 2024 shortlisted artist: Hussina Raja Raja is a British Kashmiri artist, filmmaker and actress. Using film, photography, installation, archive footage and performance, her practice is rooted in social justice and addresses social constructs of reality to re-envision existing narratives. Her film Roots, which was shortlisted for the 2024 Aesthetica Art Prize, is a reflection of Raja's life as a second generation South-Asian Brit. Shot in Tower Hamlets, Roots artfully questions what it means to be British, and surveys the experiences of immigrants who have adapted their identities to fit in with the cultural norms of a new society. Submit your artwork to join the next cohort #photography #sculpture #painting #film #installation and more. Win £10,000, exhibition and publication in Aesthetica Magazine. She uses acrylic beams, mirrors and metal propped up against the glass to produce a kaleidoscopic experience. dlwp.com - 'Inside Views', WestLicht, Vienna | Until 11 August— This exhibition displays works from influential figures like Zhang Huan and Luo Yang, as well as new voices such as Chen Ronghui.
