A rise to state pension next year is welcome, and was expected, but doesn’t compensate for losing the Winter Fuel Payment and falls short of what the majority of pensioners need to get by. The bottom line is that pensioners on the lowest incomes are going to be worse off than they would have been. Read our full response to today's UK Budget ⬇️ https://bit.ly/3An1Tlz

Scotland's national charity supporting people over the age of 50. We help people love later life.
About us
Age Scotland is the national charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of everyone over the age of 50 so that they can love later life. We support and enable hundreds of community groups across Scotland, provide information and advice through our free helpline and publications, tackle loneliness and isolation with our Community Connecting Service and much more. We work to influence policymakers and run campaigns to make Scotland the best place in the world to grow older. Age Scotland was formed following the 2010 merger between Age Concern Scotland and Help the Aged in Scotland. Our Vision: A Scotland where everyone can love later life We work to: - Inspire people to see that they can change their own and others' later life for the better. - Engage with people and enable them to change later life for the better. - Support older people who are struggling as they live longer to achieve better, happier, healthier lives.

It’s shocking that almost 900 over 50s were taken to hospital due to hypothermic symptoms last year. With the loss of the universal WFP, we are seriously concerned about an increasing number of older people reluctant or unable to heat their homes. Our message to the UK Government ahead of the Budget is clear – this is the last chance to save a vital means of financial support and ensure older people aren’t left in the cold this winter.

ScotRail unveil Age Scotland charity partnership train: A special ScotRail train featuring Age Scotland branding has been unveiled to mark the first six months of the partnership between the charity and Scotland’s Railway. Representatives from Age Scotland and Scotland’s Railway gathered at Glasgow Queen Street station to support the launch, which included charity volunteers and ScotRail staff who have taken part in raising funds for Scotland’s national charity for older people. Since Age Scotland was named as the official charity partner in April, ScotRail staff have been engaged in many fundraising activities such as abseiling off the Forth Bridge and zip-lining across the Clyde. Throughout the three-year partnership, the charity will also receive support from Scotland’s Railway though awareness raising activities, and promotional information displayed on train and in stations. ScotRail has also launched a new feature as part of the delay-repay scheme, enabling customers to have the additional option to donate to Age Scotland. The special ScotRail train, which features the charity partnership branding, will go into regular operation across the rail network, further promoting the organisation as it crosses communities around the country. Age Scotland was chosen by the 7,500 employees across ScotRail and Network Rail Scotland to be their nominated charity partner for the next three years. Scotland’s Railway charity partnership seeks to raise awareness for Age Scotland, as well as raising vital funds to enable them to help anyone aged over 50 in Scotland.

We’re delighted to announce the #BigKnit is back! This wonderful partnership with innocent drinks sees knitters across the country knitting little hats to adorn smoothie bottles. All whilst raising vital funds for Age Scotland. Bring colleagues together over a knit and natter session or create a competition to see who can knit the most. However you get involved, every hat you knit raises 30p and helps us be there for older people across Scotland who have no one else to turn to.
