We're a charity working to create a society where everyone enjoys later life.
About us
The Centre for Ageing Better is pioneering ways to make ageing better a reality for everyone, including challenging ageism and building an Age-friendly Movement, creating Age-friendly Employment and Age-friendly Homes. The UK’s population is undergoing a massive age shift. In less than 20 years, one in four people will be over 65. The fact that many of us are living longer is a great achievement. But unless radical action is taken by government, business and others in society, millions of us risk missing out on enjoying those extra years. We are a charitable foundation, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and part of the Government’s What Works Network.

"Honestly, I wouldn’t change things. I don’t have regrets about horrible things that have happened in my life, it’s just part of life. It’s what we’ve lived through. For the future, I look forward to doing things in a positive way." Says Tony, an older LGBTQ+ man. We believe that older LGBTQ+ people don't have enough representation. That's why our age-positive image library features a collection of photos that can be downloaded and used for free. Have your own story to share with us? Send us a message now to let us know! 40% of respondents to our LinkedIn poll said that their organisation provided no specific menopause support. A recent survey found that one in 10 participants who had worked during the menopause left their job due to their symptoms, so supporting employees through this life stage is crucial to retaining older workers. More people are working later in life, but older workers often face prejudice and are overlooked. Employment rates drop after the age of 55, and over half of people have stopped working before state pension age. Yet we know multigenerational workforces drive productivity and innovation. "As well as committing more funding to support the NHS, the government needs to look more long-term at preventative measures to lower demand. Developing a national strategy to fix cold and dangerous homes across all tenures would help to significantly reduce pressures." Says our Chief Executive, Dr Carole Easton on last week's #WinterBudget. Read more in our latest press release: https://lnkd.in/ebhYnXBb #SafeHomesNow #SaferHomes #OlderPeople #OlderAge
