🌾🔍 AgriSearch To Investigate Mycotoxins in Grass Silage Concerned about mycotoxins in your grass silage? We are commissioning a pilot project to examine the prevalence of mycotoxins in silage. This project will give an indication of the true extent of mycotoxins and the possible causes. The results will be used to design a larger scale study to examine possible interventions to reduce the prevalence of mycotoxins in silage. #mycotoxins #agrisearch #livestockhealth #agriculture #QUB

❓Did you know leatherjackets are the larvae of daddy long-legs? At this time of year you will notice their prevalence as they are laying their eggs. The larvae will then develop over the winter months, feeding on the roots and stems of grass and cereal crops before reaching maturity in the spring. 🌱Tight grazing in late summer/early autumn to reduce suitable egg laying habitat is one proposed method to minimise the likelihood of a leatherjacket infestation.
