AIMS Project Weekly Round-Up This week has been busy with Scottish Apprenticeship Week, where we had a fantastic time discussing the AIMS Project and hearing from local businesses about their experiences with apprenticeships. On Monday, Dante Coulton and Graham Anderson visited Dalbeattie High School, where they shared information about our AIMS Academy courses and Welding links. They also brought along the Soldamatic augmented reality welder, giving students the chance to try their hand at welding for the first time. On Thursday, Lesley Sloan and Dante Coulton made another appearance at The Old School in Thornhill as part of the Scottish Apprenticeship Week events outlinng their own experiences of hosting a Foundation Apprentice and other intern programmes. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Anmol Kumar delivered his two-day course on "Programming Basics and Intermediate C++ for Game Development" at The Bridge in Dumfries. He is now looking forward to teaching a course on Deep Learning next week. Graham Anderson continues to run his popular "Introduction to Turning" evening classes. Additionally, Dante Coulton successfully tested a 3D printed mould for a chocolate rabbit, which is part of our food-safe 3D printing process. This will be discussed in more detail during our "Filament to Fork" online seminar on March 12th. Special thanks to Dumfries and Galloway Council, Dumfries and Galloway College, and DYW Dumfries & Galloway for their continued support. #AIMSProject #Engineering #Manufacturing #Skills #Upskilling #3DPrinting #AimsEngineeringAcademy #AimsWeldingLinksIntoIndustry #BedroomEngineers #Soldamatic

My name is Cameron. I am a foundation apprentice working on the AIMS Project, undertaking my SVQ work placement in creative and digital media. I have created this week's Workshop Wednesday on Meta Quest 3, which is a multifunction AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) device that can be used for many useful applications such as controlling a desktop computer from a virtual reality headset, using a virtual reality headset to create 3D model prototypes, and viewing 3D models in a 3D space. For more information you can watch the Workshop Wednesday: Meta Quest 3 https://lnkd.in/evVCDxTG During my placement, I have also worked on multiple projects, such as updating the equipment specification sheets for the AIMS Project's technical equipment, such as 3D printers, cobots, and CNC machines. The purpose of the specification sheets is to show the capabilities of the AIMS Project's assets, which will be listed on their website www.aimsproject.co.uk Additionally, I have also worked on net zero opportunity posters to demonstrate AIMS Project's sustainable development goals. For example, 3D printing, which can provide a faster way of prototyping with minimal waste compared to other methods. I also created a poster to promote the bedroom engineers course run by the AIMS Project, which ran for 3 sessions and allowed participants to engineer and create products for their bedrooms.
