🐬 HMS Oardacious – Submarine Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, a proud part of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), break down barriers with Albatross Arts.
🎨 Through Albatross Arts, children will create two short, animated films - participating in all aspects of production - storyboarding, crafting each component of film, voice recording and filming. Albatross Arts delivers customised and ‘off the shelf’ well-established visual arts programmes. Positioning themselves at the heart of a multi-agency approach (health, social care, voluntary & community) that achieves maximum, lasting impact.
🐬 Hugo Mitchell-Heggs, the chair from the HMS Oardacious Commitee said they “Are absolutely thrilled to approve this grant and fund this exciting project with the very talented team at Albatross Arts. We have seen how much experiences like this can help benefit young people, particularly those with parents from service backgrounds helping them develop creative outlets to process emotions whilst fostering meaningful connections with others in the local community. We look forward to hearing about the journey these children go on with this experience and to watching the video once it’s been produced. Have fun!”
🖌️ The programme will provide a platform for eliminating obstacles and exposing young people to experiencing creativity beyond the classroom, working alongside industry professionals. These experiences provide a catalyst to initiate connections, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging with other young people from Naval and civilian families in their community.
✍️ The workshops will take place in the February half-term 2025 and will be for two age groups: 7-12 and 13+ via local community spaces within central Helensburgh. The animation project will be open to forces’ families and local young people.
