This Black History Month we’re listening, learning and celebrating by hearing about the heritage and traditions of colleagues of Black Heritage from across #TeamAldi. Pamila, a National supply Chain Assistant, told us why her heritage was important to her, ‘Marcus Gavey, a Jamaican Activist once said “A person without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots”. I left my home country at the age of 5, but have always made it my priority to stay connected to my roots. I have always spoken Twi at home and on weekends, I cook traditional meals for my family and friends to enjoy.’ We love hearing and learning from our colleagues, and it’s one of our top priorities that they feel understood, celebrated, and comfortable at work. That’s why we have taken action to make sure our Black and ethnic minority colleagues can be their whole self at work. 🖤 We’ve signed up to the Halo Code 💚 We’ve also signed the Race at Work Charter ❤️ Partnered with Bright Network, supporting their Black Heritage Future Leaders event 💛Offered race and ethnicity training for all colleagues, delivered by our own people

Last month, our Sustainability team headed to the Tamworth Castle Grounds for one of our litter picking events in partnership with Marine Conservation Society.   The team got together and picked up 38kg of litter in just over an hour from across the grounds and its river! AMAZING! 👏   We are proud to partner with the Marine Conservation Society as the biggest corporate sponsor of their Beachwatch initiative in 2024. Beachwatch supports more than 15,000 volunteers to organise and take part in 1200 litter picking events each year, helping to reduce beach litter and campaign for positive change. 💚

Our Selectors come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are fresh out of school, others came straight from the sky! Our Jonny worked in aviation for 20 years before landing a role with #TeamAldi. ✈️ After his redundancy, this high-flyer decided he wanted a work/life balance that was a bit more grounded.
