Are you in the sustainable property development industry? As sustainability becomes a priority in property development, understanding the legal aspects is crucial for success. Sustainable development projects must navigate various legal considerations to ensure compliance and long-term viability. Staying up to date with these regulations is essential to avoid legal issues and ensure your project meets sustainability goals. 🗺️ Planning and zoning: Sustainable projects may involve innovative design and construction methods that challenge traditional planning and zoning regulations. Engaging with local authorities early in the process can help secure the necessary approvals and avoid delays. 📝 Contracts and liability: Make sure that contracts with contractors and suppliers include clear provisions related to sustainability requirements. If your business is going through the difficult process of redundancies, here's what you need to know: 1️⃣ Identify the redundancy situation Employers must determine if there's a genuine redundancy situation within the business or specific roles/functions. 2️⃣ Selection pool An appropriate pool for selection must be identified, and objective criteria applied to select employees for redundancy. 3️⃣ Collective consultation (for 20+ redundancies) If making over 20 employees redundant within 90 days, employers must follow collective consultation rules: ✅ Notify the Redundancy Payments Service (RPS). ✅ Consult with trade union reps, elected employee reps, or staff directly. ✅ Provide detailed information about planned redundancies. ✅ Allow time for consideration and response. ✅ Attempt to reach agreement with unions on avoiding redundancies or mitigating consequences. 4️⃣ Termination notices Once the consultation is complete, provide affected staff with termination notices showing the agreed leaving date and issue redundancy notices. 5️⃣ Consultation duration While there's no time limit on consultations, there's a minimum period before dismissal: ▶️ 30 days for 20-99 employees. ▶️ 45 days for 100+ employees. Failure to comply can lead to unfair dismissal claims and protective awards of up to 90 days' pay per employee. Navigating redundancy can be complex, but Ali Legal is here to help. Our experienced team ensures compliance and supports you through every step of the process. Contact us today for expert guidance. team@alilegal.co.uk #law #redundancies #solicitors #legal #london
