    Spent yesterday morning with Allegro’s management team, and wow, they get it! We focused on high-performing teams & the power of quality performance reviews. These reviews are essential for motivating top performers and helping everyone progress. The team at Allegro really appreciate their people and the importance of quality conversations They were keen to get involved in the workshop and learn ways to develop their approach. ➤ In contrast... I come across businesses who think reviews aren’t worth the time. They feel obliged to do them but haven't seen much change as a result. In fact, they often turn into either a winge fest or a conversation about a pay rise. The reason this happens is the absence of a continuous feedback culture. So employees take this once a year opportunity to go for it. They tell you EVERYTHING they've had on their mind. It's like a tsunami. It's unproductive. What you really want is a conversation where you can focus on making improvements and moving forward. After all, staff are the biggest cost in business. Commercially, you have to maximise that level of investment in the interests of everyone. ➤ I saw the impact of performance reviews and one-to-one's with a client in my Business Accelerator Programme this week. (It's my 6 month 1:1 programme for CEOs and MDs) This MD started regular performance one-to-one's with his management team a few months ago. The results are phenomenal: ⤷ Higher output, greater accountability, and stacks of enthusiasm. ⤷ Just one situation he's resolved through this process saved him £50k. ⤷ The next situation he's working on with his team member is worth hundreds of thousands. When you take the time to have focused conversations with your team, you can find huge opportunities and turn long term problems around. Sometimes in just one conversation. If you’re running a business and wondering if regular one to one's and performance reviews are worth it. They absolutely are. When done right, they will transform your team, save you a stack of time and money, and drive your business forward - while maintaining a healthy blood pressure!
